'21 STX FX4 2.7 EB with the basic SYNC4 and 8" screen. I haven't been able to enable the auto update toggle switch for about 6 months myself. I jab at the screen incessantly until I accept it just won't toggle on. I too am connected to my home wifi or cellphone hotspot. In my FordPass app it clearly states auto update enabled and scheduled time enabled as well but it physically won't toggle on. When I check for updates...message reads updated. Why do we even bother. My FordPass app doesn't show up as well. Tried mater reset a cpl times to no avail.

@rugedraw Is there any real reason to leave auto update on if you do sync and nav via usb? Are there many actual computer updates? And do the majority complete successfully or do they tend to hose things like previously in the posts? (19 5.0 xlt)

Post or PM me your VIN so I can take a look at your truck.

Auto updates being off does not prevent an OTA from being sent to you or even installing. The only thing auto updates does is prevent the truck from installing an update that requires the vehicle to be parked for "x" amount of time while it installs. Sync 4 does not allow updates via USB unless FDRS is being used. The issues where auto updates cannot be turned on and off are a deeper rooted problem that only affects some job 1 2021 trucks that get a faulty OTA that caused to trucks to get stuck in OTA limbo and never get updates. Your truck being a 2019 is on Sync 3, so these issues are of no importance to you in particular. Being able to update via USB is not a bad thing seeing as Ford's OTA process is a complete sh*t show. Being able to update easily via USB is great, IMO. Anyone that has a job 2 2021 or 2022 and up F150 will not be affected by this issue, either. Ford is just very slow in pushing out updates.

No OTA history in the past 60 days and no OTA in queue at this time. Based on your Sync version, your truck is fine. You just haven't gotten any updates sent in a bit.

Rugedraw I hate to ask cause I know you have been asked a lot, but could you check my VIN also 1FTFW1E82MFB66441. It is a 2021 Lariat Canadian Spec truck. Only thing it tells me is that it's up to date but software version is 21146. I have tried all the OTA trick to get a update to come through with no luck. Thanks in advance

I see no OTA history in the past 60 days and no OTA in queue. The Sync version you're on is about a year old, so your truck is far from up to date. However, it is past the hump where these trucks can get stuck not getting updates. I don't think there is anything wrong with your truck. Ford's OTA process is garbage and those older updates you need get rolled out to trucks very rarely.

Could they? Yes.

Will they? Most likely not as Ford does not pay them to update modules (even under warranty) and these things take hours to do. Nobody likes to work for free.
