I'll never understand why they went straight to the lighting and skipped a plug in hybrid

During the automaker’s Q2 earnings call last night, Farley confirmed that the 2024 Ford F-150 will indeed make its debut at the upcoming 2023 Detroit Auto Show – which takes place this September – along with “a new hybrid variant,” according to the Blue Oval CEO.
Brett has a history of reading into things that aren't there. A good journalist would provide the entire quote in question.

I'm not saying it can't happen, but I treat everything from FA as heavy speculation.

Awesome and looking forward to it. The STX trim is already in a league of its own as far as base trims go and looks like it's going to get even better. I think it's awesome Ford let's you get their top shelf engines in the base trim along with the onboard generator. Chevy/GMC wants you to go up four trims just to get the 6.2 engine and to make things worse, the base Chevy/GMC has last generations interior. I maybe a peasant but you don't have to rub in my face like GM does.

100% this

I'm really a Chevy/GM guy at heart, ever since I personally swapped cams in my LS1 F-Body in 2002 in a garage in winter before YouTube existed...and I want that 6.2...as do a lot of my kind...but damn being forced into a high trim turns a lot of people off/away.

Since we’re tossing out guesses, I could see a 2.7L hybrid making sense.

More of a true fuel economy booster type motor.

That's something I've been saying for a long time. Glad to have a supporter for the idea.

Well then, how about a hybrid 5.0?. Even I might be interested in that.
Hybrids alright, but a pure EV is just plain stupid at this time, IMO.

You may be onto something, 2024 F-150 will get a new hybrid option. I would prefer a 3.5 with a plug in hybrid option myself.
