Is this quote the source on that?

"We plan to introduce, for example, an all-new F-150 and F-150 PowerBoost hybrid at the Detroit Show in September."

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's just the aesthetic changes, and he's referring to the Powerboost separately as they are trying to differentiate it as a model line. I will be surprised if it's a new power plant.

Has ford ever done a mid-cycle powerplant change? Maybe a power bump or something...

Does the Gen 2 2.7 EcoBoost in 2018 count?

During the automaker’s Q2 earnings call last night, Farley confirmed that the 2024 Ford F-150 will indeed make its debut at the upcoming 2023 Detroit Auto Show – which takes place this September – along with “a new hybrid variant,” according to the Blue Oval CEO.

I hope it's a V8 version. that would be pretty rad.

The early rumor was a plug-in 2.7 engine was being tested. Who knows?

If they make a hybrid V8 they can take my money. Someone on another forum posted what is seemingly a 5.0 hybrid schematic from Ford as well as an engineers LinkedIn profile with “5.0 V8 plug-in hybrid package analysis” as his recent job experience. Wouldn’t be too far fetched.

Funny, I was just reading some comments by the Ford CEO. He seems to hint at a lot more hybrids being on the way, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Ford had better figure out how to teach the dealerships to fix them before they release any more hybrid F150's.

The existing Powerboost is fine until something goes wrong. After that, you'd better have additional transportation.
