2024 Refresh
(I have a generac so no standby power needed)
I'm looking at this from a purely operational point of view..ie - mpg and cost of operation.
Those V8's are complicated *** engines with more moving parts to go wrong than a 3.5, as of yet pretty untested newfangled cylinder deactivation, and substantially less low/mid range torque. No generator either, of course. And substantially lower MPG in city stop and go driving.
Everything is a compromise. Pick the ones you want to make.
The only one that I think wouldn't have a compromise would be the 2.7...if they built the 2.7 SCREWs with a 7k lbs GVWR like they do the others.
Such a simple ask...just build the 2.7 with the full GVWR under it and offer it on all of the trim levels.

I still have the 5.0 without the cylinder deactivation...and so far its been a stellar engine.(23mpg hiway) FAR better then any 3.5 eco I've owned!
My family & friends are getting phenominal mileage out of their hybrid Toyota Highlanders.
Did Ford build the powerboost as a hybrid? Or as a supplemental power supply unit? (again I don't know)
As a hybrid, I think the powerboost gets poor mileage.
Ford should pair the powerboost with a 2.7 or even the 3.3.
Just my opinion...

Awesome and looking forward to it. The STX trim is already in a league of its own as far as base trims go and looks like it's going to get even better. I think it's awesome Ford let's you get their top shelf engines in the base trim along with the onboard generator. Chevy/GMC wants you to go up four trims just to get the 6.2 engine and to make things worse, the base Chevy/GMC has last generations interior. I maybe a peasant but you don't have to rub in my face like GM does.
The STX is an incredible option. It is more luxurious than my early 2000s Fords. Definitely going with one when I order mine.
I don't look at it as a peasant truck. I know a lot of people in my shoes would be buying a much higher trim. With my standards and what I've been used to my entire years of driving, the STX is what a loaded or upper trim used to be not even that long ago. Just minus the power seat. It's a great value for what it is. And phenomenal like you said you can get premium engine options in it.

The only thing that has kept me out of an STX, is the lack of the console shifter. I can pretty much load it up after I get it. Even my XLT has crap I don't care about, ya, it is a 302A, but still.
Is this a Lariat BAP or Platinum BAP?
If it's a Lariat, it has a different hood, grille, and exhaust from the previous leaked Lariat BAP.
If it's a Platinum BAP, it is missing the black P L A T I N U M lettering on the hood, no 22" wheels, and no dual exhaust like the current gen.
