The benefit there is you can nab the latest update files if your putting a 2018 or 2019 Sync 3 unit in your older ford.

I have to ask a question, and forgive me if I am not up to speed like some folks think I should be. The Ford owners site says I have a SYNC 3 update available. I have a 15 with the small screen, and nothing else. I tried to do the download to a clean USB, and the truck tells me the files need to be in the root directory of the USB. I've tried everything, and can't seem to make it work. My question:
Can I truly update a unit like mine to SYNC 3 like Ford says? I know this thread is to update hardware to SYNC 3, which I am interested in, just not now. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong with the software? Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone.
I have a stock 2016 XLT package 301A, with 4inch screen no nav not even sure about having any flavor of sync3 on board(though I read its in all 2016s ...). I have been confused on that since getting the truck.
At this point I am trying to figure what modules need to be swapped.
I am hoping to deduce how much of this upgrade I need to do to turn my manual AC into auto AC.
I looked at @Airborne_Ape's video
related to 4inch to 8inch upgrade, and saw only the following active parts/modules : screen, APIM, ACM, FCIM.
But since I see those get removed in the Tesla style radio install, I guess they don't matter for the AutoAC ?
In the end, I hope to gain both a Tesla radio upgrade and a single zone autoAC.
Am I right that this is doable?
erf, cant believe its past 3am. Going back to work tomorrow :/ Hope is going to get me ...

As far as auto AC, cant be done unless you replace the dash and dash harness with one out of a 502A, you're missing way too much stuff

I don't want dual zone AC, heated seats or what not, I just want basic single zone AC, which I read here is possible coming from manual AC. I will look for the quote.
