I'm pretty sure the sync 3 trucks come with a 5 years worth of free map updates. Regardless this website says there are no updates available either

I just ordered the A9 Sync "2018-2019-version" Nav Card on FleaBay. Under US$45 delivered! A way betta' deal than the A9 one Ford offered in the letter I got Saturday~~ $149.00 (delivered).
Won't get for a few days as it comes from Calif. -->but not planning any trips that need the Nav program anyway.
On another note, recently worked w/ Disaster Recovery Services in NC during Hurricane Florence deploying generators to cellphone towers. The Sync maps as well as GoogleMaps & Waze weren't worth a crap during the storm or afterwards. Ended up using a Garmin GPS & Lat/Long coordinates for the sites along w/ Google Maps on cellphone to traverse the flooded and closed roads.
Whatta PITA!

As to your comment about Sync not being worth anything during Florence and afterward, while cell service may be down, Syn relies on GPS satellite which is the same as Garmin, unaffected by the weather. Traffic data does rely on local radio frequency information, which is put out by Sirius/XM ground transmitters.

Responding to Ifallsguy: For the record I have Sync2 in my truck, the A9 card works & thus no $$ wasted.
Answering Professor Wizard's query: The new A9 card came today. I removed the old (A7) card replaced w/ the A9, started the truck & the update was done in less than a minute. Went for a short drive & didn't see any major changes on the screen other than now it shows the posted road Speed Limit, don't think it did before.
When I opened this Forum page & noticed the question about d/l-ing to a USB drive thought I'd give it a shot. Put my A9 card into laptop & a USB jump-drive as well. Opened the A9 card file-There's 4 or 5 files therein & copied info from the card onto the drive. Took about 25mins for the "Data" file to transfer. about a minute for the "Gracenote" info to transfer. Sadly the Jump drive I used was not large enough to accept the balance of the stuff on the A9 card so I have no way of completing this test for y'all. :-(
But it does seem to prove the info can be transferred/uploaded to a USB drive.

What Ifalsguy said!
I thought you had a 2018 F150. (all 2018's are Sync3 - USB). So we were curious how you were going to use an A9 SD card in it.
Now.. we know you actually have a 2015, f150.
bummer - that won't help "us" at all.
