While I think they will eventually regret exiting the passenger car market almost entirely (the Fusion isn't Ford's lowest production number model), they aren't placing their focus on trucks, they are placing it on SUV's/Crossovers, which people overwhelmingly prefer. SUV's/Crossovers offer more comfortable seating positions, better visibility, and even when they don't have more cargo space, are often still perceived as having more.

There were six SUV/Crossover models in the lineup for 2019:
Ecosport
Escape
Edge
Flex
Explorer
Expedition

The Flex has come to end of production. The Mach E and Bronco are just around the corner, so there will be seven models in 2021.

Yeah, what’s the payload off the sticker on the RAM? Towing capacity is stupid. Payload is the key.

You mention towing. Have you checked the payload on your Ram?

The cargo space is, in many ways and for many uses, more versatile on the crossovers/SUVs. Large or irregular shapes tend to be easier to fit in them vs a car, especially in a 1-2 occupants, rear seats folded scenario. Or, simply, the "dogs" scenario...particularly big/multiple dogs along with say 4 passengers. So even in cases where the cubic feet statistic is equal or a little less, it can still be better...and of course it's usually more cargo volume by the numbers anyway due to the height and shape.

And agreed on all other points. I am fairly certain neither of us will ever have a 'car' again. It's been 8 years since we had a car (that one was a Focus), and can virtually guarantee that trend will continue. SUV, crossover, van, or truck, all better.

My parents also, were into cars, had a Taurus and two Fusions at the same time for example, but shifted and of their 3 vehicles only 1 was a car, and it wasn't a Ford. Trucks and SUV's are more and more popular for all the great practical reasons...and crossovers are basically the new cars to a lot of people

I just came back from the RAM dealer and traded my F150 for a RAM 1500. This is not the right forum for a complaint list, and really my list was very small. But from the engine that would stop at every light to killing the 5.4 V8, to pricing themselves out of the market, I finally went to the dark side. Super happy with the RAM. Quiet, powerful. Love the 5.7 hemi. I think I would have paid a few more bucks to stay with Ford, except the V8 was a non-starter. I had an expedition (built on a F150 frame) with 5.4 for 15 years and almost 200K miles. It was awesome. I'm old school and don't ever want a turbo in a truck, and 5.0L is just too small. Its fine in my Mustang... I tried pricing out an acceptable F150 and it was thousands more and I still didn't like the engine. Looking forward to the RAM increased towing capacity, better ride and plusher, more roomy interior and decent monthly payment. My son and inlaws made the same decision. I think Ford discontinuing cars to concentrate on trucks is a very risky move. Esp if people like myself start turning away from the trucks. Not wanting to start a debate, just sharing my disappointment.
But...you already owned the truck right? and you got rid of it because of the start stop feature?

Theres more and more of these threads whereby someone complains about their F150 and has to broadcast that they traded it on a Ram or Chevy... (but mostly rams)

And the reasons are these trivial little things that aren't even on my radar.

If you're going to trash your current F150, at least have a reason!

No doubt. The current 5.0 V8 (any generation since 2011) runs absolute circles around the ol' 5.4 3v.

In addition to the two piece spark plugs, my friend had numerous issues with the exhaust manifolds on his 2006 5.4L. You could hear that thing ticking from a mile away.
