Sync map update LST_ERR05
I downloaded the zip file from the SyncNavigation.com website and am getting the same error code. According to the Ford Sync Instructions pdf (attached) this code means the map license file is missing. However, I followed the directions exactly and added the license file as directed. Called the 800-392-3673 number, but of course, they are not open at this time.
The last time I updated the maps I think that code was the result of not expanding the zip file correctly. I use a Mac and someone said you had to expand the zip file using Stuffit rather than the built-in Archive Utility. I tried to do that this time, but after expanding the file about 75% it came up with a message saying the "structure of the archive is damaged". So, I used the built-in Archive Utility and after adding the license file got the Lst_err05 code.
I don't think I have ever successfully updated the Sync software on the first try.

I downloaded the update and the -CC license file to my own USB. Been trying for quite some time to get it to work just like everyone else on this thread. I was stopped at the LST_err05 error.
Turns out the autoinstall was looking for the license file with lowercase .tar.gz extension. When I downloaded the file it was uppercase TAR.GZ . Renamed the file, and now the installation has started. Crossing my fingers that it will complete!

It seems that if you downloaded the 18 maps from the site before it is spitting out the 18 map license file for the new 19 maps. This goes for 3.0 (for the F150 16-18) and 3.2+ (for the F150 19-20) sync 3 units. On the first day the new 19 maps were out I tried to get the 19 maps for one I had upgrade with 18 maps before and it wouldn't let me download anything. So they have made some progress on that front but obviously have to correct what license file you are getting. Doesn't seem like they do much trial and error testing before going live.
I was having the same error code: LST_ERR105 when attempting to update the navigation map on my FORD 2018 F-150 truck. I downloaded the files twice, thinking that maybe on the first attempt a file was incomplete/corrupted. It turned out that I did not follow correctly the step 10 of the downloaded instructions.
It was my error in that I copied the license file to the USB root directory instead of copying to the "SyncMyRide" folder. Once I corrected this, the update completed successfully. This was clearly stated on step 10 of the instructions.

Hi Everyone. I have Sync 3 (without NAVIGATION) in my 2018 F250 Super Duty. I downloaded and unzipped on Mac and got the LST error. I then downloaded it on Windows and when I hit unzip I had it unzip to the destination USB (formatted in ExFat). I then put it in my truck while started in Park with radio on and it worked. In the middle of the install after a few min it required I be connected to wifi to complete install. 10-15 min later it said complete and to restart vehicle. Now it shows the updated version in my about section on my radio. Note. When I unzipped it on the windows computer it looked exactly like it showed in the directions. It does not unzip correctly on MAC.
I just ran into this upgrading from 3.3 to 3.4. If you don't download AND extract the zip file the EXACT way they want you to then you will get that error. Make sure in your browser you turn off the preference to automatically open safe files. If this was clicked you might have noticed that the zip file actually downloaded as a regular folder. You need the actual .zip file. THEN use an app called The Unarchiver to open the zip file. I did this and moved the files to my USB drive and it appears to be working fine. Before I thought I was following the instructions exactly too and it was driving me insane and then I noticed the link below.
They have step-by-step instructions for extracting the files at this link.

HI, I had the same error come up.
went back to the Ford website for the update and this time it give me a totally different file to download 5U5T-14G381-ET is the name of file 1.75 Gb.
Downloaded it and extracted it, copied to a USB drive, then started truck (2019 F150) and the software updated without any problems, also if you run into the problem of the Sirius radio not working, do a complete reset of the radio in the settings and everything should be working properly, you will have to re-connect your phones.
Hope this helps.

I still have not been able to upgrade my maps in my 2018 Ford Edge. I found an error on the download to a flash drive site:
You get an error LST_ERR005, because the license file is the wrong file. If you go on Ford's website and search for "Why am I getting the LST_005 error you will see:
- If your vehicle has SYNC 3 v3.0, there should be seven (7) files in the SyncMyRide folder. If the JR3T-14G242-CF.TAR.GZfile is missing, you will see the LST_005 error when attempting to install the map update.
- If your vehicle has SYNC v3.3 or v3.4, there should be 15 files in the SyncMyRide folder. If the 4U5T-14G424-CD.TAR.GZ file is missing, you will see an LST_005 error when attempting to install the map update.
I called Ford and they still have not figured this out. My 7 files I think unzipped just fine. The problem is the license file is wrong. You can use WinRAR and see what the license file has - 2 simple files that are wrong. I just do not understand why they had to make it so difficult. In any event my maps are still NA 1 15 which I think are from when the programs was started as my house that was built 5 years ago is not on them. Unless I can get the Map Upgrade to work I am stuck with the map I have.
By the way make sure the flash drive is about 20 gigs and format it using ex-fat and not NTFS. If you get the right files you might be able to upgrade your maps - I still am stuck with my LST_005 error.
If you're eligible, I think there are ~3 or so free map updates from memory. It's always possible there is some glitch with the site to where it's generating a license for the old map data. Seems like that's what happened here i these are the direct files you got from the download.

Does anyone know the email address to file complaints at Ford?
I got about a million of them...
