I have officially thrown in the towel and given up trying to update my 2019 F150 701A (currently at v3.3 Build 19052). I have tried numerous brands of USB 3.0 16GB+ flash drives using both the quick format option and full format. In each and every case after the USB is installed the 2 popup screens appear, the "Updating System" message appears at the top of the screen for about 5 seconds and then disappears never to be seen again. In the last attempt, I let the truck idle for 2.5 hours. Nothing wrong with the way the files are on the flash drive, just won't install. No, I didn't try a master reset and I'm not going to.

Not even going to attempt installing in my 2019 Ranger. I have ordered USB flash drives from ALOM for both my 2019 F150 and 2019 Ranger. I will let the dealer install next month when the new Sync 3 update comes out to upgrade from v3.3 to v3.4.

This shouldn't be this hard !!

Just curious where you put the license file. The directions call for that file to go into the SyncMyRide folder. I almost missed that when I moved my files to the USB stick. I don't know if that would have a play in the matter, but it would seem possible that if you had the license file in the root directory instead of the folder, it may not be happy. Just a thought.

You might try it one more time, this time after the "Updating System" goes away, turn off the truck, take out the USB, and open and close the door. Start the truck again, and give it a moment to settle in, then put the USB back in. The install might continue... this happened to me, except I had two different USB sticks (one with a quick format, one with a full format) that I swapped in once the "Updating System" went away. I was trying to make it do the install with the 2nd USB stick, but instead it continued the first install and the "System Update" came back and stayed on the screen for the next 2.5 hours and two reboots until finally the install completed successfully. Another user above also reported this "continuation" of an install...

yes the license file is in the SyncMyRide folder

If it's not in that folder you get an error message.

Anecdotally, I’ve seen less problems with 20MY folks already on v3.4 updating, so perhaps they made some improvements to it? At least with 3.4 you can report problems back to Ford from the screen if it’s hooked to WiFi.

Not going to tell my dealer what to do, but I will suggest they update to v3.4 first then update maps to v1.19.

Reformatted brand new 128 gb drive, did the full format and still get the Mem_err01. After 30 minutes of the battery being unplugged, then I waited 5 minutes for the system to come up and settle down, I did a master reset waited another 5 minutes between reset and trying the update. Same error. I give, at some point I might take it in and bitch about it....Just frustrated as hell...
