I'm downloading the NON-Nav now and it's roughly 2GB, but the Nav version is only around 1.7GB. That's not quite intuitive for me, I'd think the Nav version would be the larger of the 2 downloads.

I just don't want to screw-up my Sync 3, and I can't find the download under "What's new for May 2017".

EDIT: Yep, still doesn't make sense, but here is the top line of the autoinstall.lst file:
; Gen 3 - Assembly Update - NonNav/NEU - 17011

The Non-Nav also has an update for the Voice Command which the Nav update doesn't need.

Map data will be on http://ford.navigation.com/home/en_US/FordNA/USD eventually and expect to pay about $150 for updated maps. They are not free updates for Ford Sync.

Portable hard drive didn't work.
I successfully used a portable hard drive. Just make sure it's formatted as exFat.

Wasn't able to report back to the Ford Owner site that the update was successful. Trying to upload the log file always generates error "Upload unsuccessful. Please try again later. If you continue to experience problems, contact us." Not a big deal I'm sure but my slight OCD is bugging me...

Do a Wi-Fi check for updates or connect the FordPass app and it will report the update as well.

Since seeing this thread, I tried again. With Wi-Fi, it says I'm up to date with Sync 3 version 1.x.

I've tried downloading to a flash drive on 2 different computers with numerous flash drives and I get an error message;

"System Error

This service is temporarily unavailable. Please Try again later or contact us."

immediately upon hitting "Request Download"...so it appears it's not available for everyone quite yet. Grrr...I guess I'll wait a little longer.

Anyone else getting this message?

Are you formatting the thumbdrives to exFAT?

I'm not getting to the point of needing the thumb drive. It looks like I get an email link when the file is ready to download (after hitting "Request Download"). From the website, it's a 3 step process...I can't get past step 1.

Rather than going through your email, have you tried logging on owner.ford.com and started at the point using my post from earlier? Post #15. I did this and worked fine.
