Glad that you are ok. I have said this time and time again--Ford's engineering team is absolutely top notch. It wouldn't be too long ago that you would have been seriously injured. The BMW X5 is no joke--it has some weight and is built very well. At base, it also costs about twice what a base F-150 costs.

Kudos to Ford. They absolutely have the safest truck on the market right now.

Glad you are ok. I just went through the same thing. My truck was totaled, not my fault. Yes yours will total for sure. The frame alone is $4800 and 50 hours of labor.

Damn straight, it was actually one of the reasons I bought a truck. I drive 50-60k/yr and I have had a few near misses with deer and cars over the last two years. I came from driving a Focus ST, I don't even want to think what the outcome could have been. On impact the trucks rear end got airborne, spun up 270 degrees and pirouetted on the front tires then slammed down. The force to drive a 5000+lb truck like that was huge and no I don't know what that is in kg's...lol.

Got the news today, it is a write off, just waiting for the payout from insurance, I had a no depreciation clause so I should get full pop on it.

That's is great news, congrats! Few people think to add that on, always looking for the cheapest policy.

My last three new vehicles I didn't even have to ask for the clause, they added it automatically. When I insured my 2014 F150 they even offered to extend it from 2 yrs to 5 yrs from date of purchase for a couple of bucks more a month.

To the OP, I'm glad you were able to walk away from the accident.

Glad your ok! My coworker was just T-boned on Monday in his F-150 which was a company truck. After we looked at the amount of damage the next day, we are thinking the his truck is going to be totaled. I have a feeling yours is to. There is a lot of "hidden" damage when just looking at first glance. He walked away from it and sent to the hospital on his own as a precaution.
