Default Ram Chevy forums

Just a hunch and checked out other forums from Ram and Chevy truck owners for comparing recalls, complaints, fixes ect.
Might as well take all the problems posted on here and change the title to Chevy or Dodge Ram. My conclusion is nothing is perfect, and most folks like be don't post much unless there is a problem.
I started reading into too much of the negative, albeit deserved, fixes complaints and so forth.
Had to take a deep breathe and appreciate what I have. So far my truck has done everything I had asked and more and was practically living out of it with our RV for a month when Harvey destroyed much of our home.
Dealers, that is another story. I would pay more to own a truck if I knew of a dealer that would take care of me, but thats another subject.
I used to have Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with all the bells and whistles. It was my first and last Dodge. A good friend of mine owns a business and uses his Ram to the tune of 95,000 miles in two years. Always had Dodge/Ram trucks and hardly any problems.
I have had my most reliable trucks since buying my first F100 in 1980. Bought others in 1986, 1993, 1997 and 2015.

Yes, you are so correct. All brands of trucks are gonna have some sort of issue. And of course, you can always get a bad egg in the basket. Some certain year models will be a little better or worse than others. But for the most part , it all basically equals out. I think Ford has really improved its engines drastically in their trucks over the last seven years. The 2.7eb, 3.5eb and 5.0 are way better than the old "hit or miss" 5.4 & 4.6 triton engines. And of course the 6.7 PS is in a whole different planet from those dreadful 6.0&6.4 powerstrokes. I don't know if its just me, but one thing I have noticed on some of these car/truck forums is the rather large amount of stupid silly childish remarks that come from the GM crowd. Geez

Yup. A lot of people are Ford/Chevy/Dodge guys - I have no loyalty but just can't stand the new Chevy. In reality they all have issues. Some the same some different. Doesn't matter which one you buy there is a good chance it won't be 100%.

Chevy trucks haven’t looked good since 2006 IMO. The fender wells killed the appearance of the previous two generations, the ones on the ‘07-‘13 gen had those unsightly bulges and the ones on the ‘14-‘18/‘19 LD gen were too square. They fixed the fender wells on the current generation, but hit the rest of the truck with the ugly stick. The new HD Chevy’s are particularly hideous.

Sorry for the above necro-post, I was looking at another thread and got transported to this one that hadn’t had a reply in two years.

Not really, go check out the Tundra forum. Very few issues, there are times when the entire first page has no mechanical problems posted on it. The forum is mostly used for modding / bull****ting ect. I'm not saying to go out and buy a tundra, because they suck. But you can't deny they are drama free, and their forum typically reflects that.

No worries, believe it or not the staff here doesnt get as worked up about necro posting as some of the members do under most circumstances.

If I drove the most boring truck platform made today I wouldnt have much to say about it either, not to mention Ford/ GM/ FCA outsell Toyota many times over so there is alot more of us than Tundra owners.

I'm not sure a 2 year old post is all that necro. I mean it's not current, but, a lot of forums people randomly revive threads that are like a decade old, or worse, to give OP advice on their question, and it's like...lol

The issues with the Tundra are horsepower, torque, acceleration, payload, crash safety, towing, fuel mileage, lack of technology, etc.

If you want a Mad Max, the world is ending, you can't get it fixed, truck, get a Toyota. But if you live in a developed nation and can get things fixed if you have an issue...just...why would you subject yourself to everything else objectively being a full generation behind

For me safety alone makes the decision, I think I and my passengers are far more likely to be injured or killed in an accident, than because of a minor mechanical issue with the vehicle. And the Tundra does not do well on crash safety. F150 knocks it out of the park, so does the new Ram

There are also a ****load more F150 owners than Tundra lol their sales are not so great

Don't kid yourself. My son works at a Toyota dealership in the parts department. He brings in lots of parts and they do lots of warranty work on the Tundras and Tacomas, including replacing so many frame rails that they buy them by the trailer load.

There were 8 frames on this trailer, 4 have been unloaded.

We already know Toyota finally perfected their three decade old engine technology. It's not a bragging right, it's a choice. If you want super dependability, and good gas mileage, and good power, be prepared to shell out enough money for an upper middle class home to get that vehicle, and before you pull out your wallet, be warned that as vehicle prices get past the range of the most expensive F150's, mfg's start sacrificing dependability for performance records.
