Reliability hands down Toyota. But the trade off is tow capacity and it's just a bit long in tooth and fuel economy and tech etc. I love my f150 but knowing all the issues I've had I'd reconsider another purchase. Each their own.
Fan boys of "x" brand is where I roll my eyes. All have positives and minuses.
Imagine if Toyota kept the reliability but did a serious evolution of the truck so it totally competes with Ford Chev or Dodge. I wonder why they don't ?

I've warned him that they do break down, that Honda parts cost more and the labor rates are higher, but he's stuck in an idealistic youth echo chamber and knows with certainty that dad doesn't know anything.
My previous vehicle was a 2003 Escape that gave me 250,000 miles before giving up the ghost after a particularly brutal driving season, due to having never changed the transmission fluid. Ignition coils, alternator, timing belt, water pump and thermostat, all after 200,000 miles. Wasn't smoking when I sold it, not even on startup. No rust.
I agree with what you just said. Folks tend to expect perfection in everything and the slightest problem they have it's a POS.
I had an Acura that I bought brand new, in the first few years I owned it every speaker in the doors had to be replaced, TWICE. Sometimes the backup camera and voice commands wouldn't work but they could never figure that out. Not too long after the warranty expired the bluetooth failed which happened to lots of Honda products but never fixed it. It also needed new motor mounts when it was about 5 or 6 years old, which was almost $1,000. And of course it was part of the Takata air bag saga. Lastly the clear coat had worn off and the paint was in horrible shape. But that was the best car I've ever owned. It got taken out by a deer at 11 years old and 218,000 miles but it was still running strong. On it's last day I wouldn't have hesitated to jump in it and drive across country.
If I was like many people here I would have called it a POS for being in the shop 7 times for warranty work.
My Dad has a 1996 Mazda B3000 (Ford Ranger clone) that had a coil pack fail and needed to be towed in and fixed under warranty. Then it had the transmission fail and had to get towed in again to be replaced under warranty. It's now 24 years old and he's still driving it. Of course at it's age lots of thing have broken, radio doesn't work, A/C compressor, evaporator and condenser replaced, tach doesn't work, odometer stopped working over 10 years ago at 140,000 miles, ignition switch replaced, 2 starters replaced and it leaks oil from everywhere, but it doesn't smoke at all.
Bet a lot of folks here would've thrown in the towel when the transmission bit the dust.
