It was eBay genuine Ford seller factory sealed fob only thing is not certain if its ever been programmed perhaps to another vehicle?

The online instructions clearly are very different to the below, below makes much more sense but still no joy all round! I get no notifications. Im starting with ignition off initially.

These instructions worked to add a 3rd fob to my 2016. I did with buttons up. Make sure to just press the start stop button without your foot on the brake. You don't actually start the truck, just press the button.

Hope that helps!

Or maybe its not compatible after all. Has anyone successfully added a eBay remote that doesn't show a tailgate but has a trunk logo. For $40- I can't imagine you got a tailgate logo given my searches, the ford part numbers seem to overlap regardless.
There're two styles of 5 button remote one that is linear with all 5 buttons in a row and one that has the two buttons at top open/close thats mine,
I bought a remote off eBay for $50 with a trunk symbol that had been previously programmed and I was able to program it first time using the mustang directions and buttons up. Everything works including tailgate release. As stated in an earlier post, push the start stop button without your foot on the brake - you don't actually start and stop the engine.
Cheers!

I can confirm, my experience was the same as Mr. Unlimited. Used from eBay is good; you don't have to erase the previous program. I followed the procedure in post #16, with five seconds between steps. Although someone above had success with three seconds between steps.

Maybe the key is to use exactly the same time delay between each step, whether it is three or five seconds. The manual says wait between three and ten seconds but that wide range in timing did not work for me.

I did buy from a seller that stated it would work on a 2016 F150. If you are unsure, buy from someone who accepts returns. But you probably won't be sending it back!

The backup starting location is located under the rubber mat in the bottom of the storage compartment in front of shift lever

Place first programmed passive key in the backup starting location
2
Press Start/Stop button

Press Start/Stop button
5
Remove the first programmed passive key from the backup starting location
6
Within 10 Seconds, Place the second programmed passive key in the backup starting position
7
Press Start/Stop button
8
Wait 5 Seconds
9
Press Start/Stop button

12
Place unprogrammed passive key in the backup starting location
13
Press Start/Stop button
14

I followed these instructions, and it worked first time on my 2016 Latiat with the smart key

Just find you one on ebay for 40 - 50 bucks... I got one long ago on ebay for 40 with a blank hard key.

Note to self - next time read to the END of the thread. My poor seats are wired from run it back and forth with 5 second intervals over and over.... 3-4 seconds and a quick swap was the magic trick.

The eBay fob I got did not have a blank backup key - can just the metal backup key portion these be purchased from Ford? The fob is mainly for a backup if we lose one but would be nice to have the backup metal key too.

As preventative I purchases two 128 bit high security transponder key blanks (no remote buttons) for my 2016 F150 XLT SuperCrew

Strattec blank # 5923293 for $17.00 each from this online store
http://www.clksupplies.com/products/...er-key-5923293

Took the to a local lock & key store who cut them for $15.00 each; So for $32.00 each I have spare keys. Loads cheaper than dealer pricing.

Following instructions in the owners manual with the 2 factory key fobs the new keys were matched to my truck and work perfectly.
Strongly suggest doing this before you lose one of the factory keys otherwise you're stuck having to get ripped by the dealer.

I purchased a fob today... few questions I have. If I were to end up losing one of the three (likely one of the original two as the one I purchased will be the spare), can you then add a 4th with just any two remotes or do you need all 3?
Second question, is there a way to remove keys from the list - ie the lost one?

? for you all

# 16 post and # 32 are slightly different

can someone clarify

after putting in 2nd remote and hitting start stop button do you then remove and put in new (3rd) remote and then hit start stop

or do you put in 2nd remote hit start stop and then wait 3 secs and hit start stop again and then remove 2nd remote and insert 3 rd remote and hit start stop
