Anybody try this with a 2017 F150. It looks like they changed the spot for the key. It can be in two different spots. For my vehicle it is underneath the front cup holder. I'm lost at the very first step where is says to insert the first previously programmed coded key into the ignition... WTF?!?

1. Place the first programmed key in the backup slot (A) in the center console, then press the push button ignition switch. Insert the first previously programmed coded key into the ignition.

2. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.

3. Remove the intelligent access key. Switch the ignition off and remove the first coded key from the ignition.

4. Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed intelligent access key in the backup slot. Press the push button ignition switch. After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off, insert the second previously coded key into the ignition.

5. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again. Switch the ignition from off to on. Keep the ignition on for at least three seconds, but no more than 10 seconds.

6. Remove the intelligent access key. Switch the ignition off and remove the second previously programmed coded key from the ignition.

7. Place the unprogrammed intelligent access key in the backup slot and press the push button ignition switch. After three seconds but within 10 seconds of switching the ignition off and removing the previously programmed coded key, insert the new unprogrammed key into the ignition.

Programming is now complete. Verify the remote control functions operate and your vehicle starts with the new intelligent access key. If programming was not successful, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7. If you are still unsuccessful, take your vehicle to an authorized dealer.

Here's what I did...
1. I put a small piece of masking tape on the two programmed keys so I knew which keys were which and put all three by the shift lever for easy identification and accessibility.
2. I placed the first programmed key in the backup position
3. With left hand, Press Start\Stop button
4. Counted to three maybe four seconds (one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand)
5. With left hand, pressed Start\Stop button
6. With right hand, swapped first programmed key with second programmed key (quickly)
7. With left hand, pressed Press Start\Stop button
8. Counted the three maybe four seconds (one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand)
9. With right hand, swapped second programmed key with the un-programmed key (quickly)
10. With left hand, pressed Start\Stop button
11. Door locks cycled and dashboard light up and dashboard counsel stated “Key Programming Successful”

I put both factory keys in the house and tested the new key on door locks, tailgate release and remote start and it works just like the factory keys.

I hope the slightly modified procedure will work for others! Thanks again Shovel-ready!
Did this today on my 2016 Platinum. Worked exactly as described!

Hooray - success using Jack-be-quick's "quicker" method and re-quoted by Hopey for new 2017 Lariat! I had tried with no success using the manual's method, Ford's web-page method, and other methods earlier in this thread to no avail. I don't understand how Ford can screw simple instructions up so bad. I had bought this new fob for $94 on ebay and had good confidence in it from a reputable supplier so I did not believe the fob was at fault.

I just looked at the instructions for Programming a Spare Intelligent Access Key in the 2017 owners manual, Page 76 and page 77. And it is the most confusing crap. They intermingled the directions for the Intelligent Access Key and the integrated keyhead transmitters. Look at the directions on page 76 for the integrated keyhead transmitters and compare the steps there with the last part of the steps on page 77 for the Intelligent Access Key. The instructions for the keyhead are included after the instructions for the Access Key in each step.

I tried to clean the Intelligent Access Key directions up and I believe the following is the same as previously posted to be successful.

You must have two previously programmed intelligent access keys inside
your vehicle and the new unprogrammed intelligent access keys readily accessible.
Contact an authorized dealer to have the spare key programmed if two previously
programmed keys are not available.

Make sure that your vehicle is off before beginning this procedure. Make sure that
you close all the doors before beginning and that they remain closed throughout
the procedure. Perform all steps within 30 seconds of starting the sequence. Stop
and wait for at least one minute before starting again if you perform any steps out
of sequence.

Read and understand the entire procedure before you begin.

1. Place the first programmed key in the backup slot (A) in the center console,
then press the push button ignition switch.

2. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.

3. Remove the intelligent access key.

4. Within 10 seconds, place a second programmed intelligent access key in
the backup slot. Press the push button ignition switch

5. Wait five seconds and then press the push button ignition switch again.

6. Remove the intelligent access key.

7. Place the unprogrammed intelligent access key in the backup slot and press
the push button ignition switch Programming is now complete. Verify the
remote control functions operate and your vehicle starts with the new intelligent
access key.

If programming was not successful, wait 10 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7.
If you are still unsuccessful, take your vehicle to an authorized dealer.

I have an intelligent access key from my 15 Lariat and was curious if I could program it to my 17 XLT. Anyone tried this? I would think the lock/unlock and remote start should work. I haven't researched to see if the remote tailgate open would be possible to add. That would be a plus if it could.

I have a 2015 Lariat, and I reprogrammed 2 of my 2015 Mustang GT keyfobs to work. Now all 4 work just like they are supposed to, all functions. (Remote start, Tailgate drop, etc)

I was reading the manual and without the push start, I am not sure how to be able to program the intelligent fob. Was hoping someone already looked into this. I would love to be able to have the remote tailgate button be functional.

I just programmed my spare intelligent Access Key I had purchased for my 2015 Lariat to work in my 2017 King Ranch using the steps in post 75. On the 2017 KR I had to put the key in the slot under the front cup holder, the bottom rubber mat is removable. I had to put the key in with the key chain end up to get it to work. I tried it with the key chain end down the first time at it didn't work. I also had the buttons facing to the rear, I don't know if this is required, but I do know the 2015 had to have the buttons facing a particular way.

Took me less then 15 minutes from start to finish, sure beats the $60 the dealer wanted.
