That's what I had to do on my '07 when I added larger tires. Pulled the mudguards off and took a Dremel to them on the inside edge. Trimmed them to give the look they were made that way.

Will probably do the same when I add larger tires on my '17. Gotta try to keep the rock chips down and the running boards clean for the kids. 😎

Exactly. I think my wife may actually WANT me to get different side steps after she tries getting in and out a few times. Our son may need a rope ladder haha. I did get my daughter in and out of her car seat this morning, and while it wasn’t overly difficult, it was definitely higher.

I see lot's of great looking setups here. I really want to level my truck, but my concern is wear on CV joins and the UCAs. That being said, should one want to go with 2 or 2.5" in the front, what would any expert recommend without an actual real lift kit? Would there be any way to upgrade CVs to deal with the larger angle? Would upgraded UCAs help?

What about in the rear? If one adds some lift to the rear, say 1.5" with blocks, extra spring etc, any concern with the any of the rear suspension components wearing prematurely?

thank you!

I've read a lift is best to keep the same geometry as factory for your CV axles. But not everyone can afford or need a 4"+ lift. I have also read leveling kits at or under 2.5" is fine, at or under 2" would be even better. Neither me or any of my friends are having CV issues with our leveling kits, and that's a combined 100k+ miles.

Looks like 2" is a safe route without too much stress on the existing components. So now, after reading through several threads, looks like once the truck is leveled, if you put a lot of weight in the bed, the front may rise and the rear sag. Besides it looking bad, I'm concerned about lighting when driving at night. Maybe the lights will not illuminate the road as well due to the change in angle. That being said, I'm thinking of doing something with the leaf springs in the rear. Has anyone tried adding a leaf or completely swapping out all the leafs for something more heavy duty? It will probably give some added height in the back, which I won't mind. So long as the front goes up a bit, and the rear won't under load..

This is your fault! All your pics looked so good. I had to order the rims I wanted. Discount tire eBay store had 100 off a specific sets of rims over 100. Now my wife is angry at me! Worth it

haha I know. I got the green light for tires, so she can’t be upset at me about those. And I’m only in the hole about 150 for my rims after I sell my rims/tires. So all in all, spent a lot but TOTALLY worth it and would do it again.
Next step is either a tuner or wheel to wheel step bars.
those rims are going to look great! Nice choice

I can keep the stock 275/65 LT Wranglers for now. Only bad part about this whole issue is I was just on vacation so I won't have time this week to get the rims swapped out. Hoping somehow it's slow when I go back in to work.

i did the same thing a couple weeks ago but had the rims send to another house. But I couldn’t pass up a good deal now trying to decide on tire/size
