I did not know about Shock Surplus until now and I already bought it from Stage 3 front and rear for around $500 less than Shock Surplus. Should I just buy a set of new hats, I think they are less than $100 ? I will have the shop do the front. and I will do the rear.

I installed my own 6112s and 5160s, as I did the four 5100s three years before that.

I purchased in 2020 new top mounts and the expensive rubber isolators that sandwich between the spring top and the top mount. All four items (two top mounts, two isolators) totaled +/- $200 and all were near $50 each.

If you're raising your front ride height, be aware you may also want/need camber correction bolts at another $ each. They ain't cheap, either, because they have to be good quality. Cheers.

I like to use factory parts, so, Ford parts. I ordered mine through Tasca, but after shipping costs, I might as well have got them over the counter at a local Ford dealer... maybe. It was summer of '20 when I did that and I cain't recall the exact figures.

Cheers.

Am thinking of partially leveling my 2016 and putting some new shocks on it in the process since the factory FX4 shocks now have 120k miles...
Going to get some more pricing, but can have the 5100s installed for $300 + $150 alignment, perhaps cheaper other places... so about 1k total from that shop OTD. Their pricing on the shocks wasn't the greatest, so may buy separate and find a potentially cheaper installation shop...
Could order the 6112 assembled and likely do it myself... those are a fairly large jump in price though
Or for $200 or so more the Fox 2.0... though service will be required on those every 50k miles (or sooner if leaks)

I mostly drive on the road... am planning to get a larger camper in near future, so regardless of selection will be an improvement over stock (old stock at that)...

$450 for installation and alignment is about right. I found couple places with the same price but I will install it myself not because of money but to like to work on my own truck. $45 for coil compression spring tool and the rear only took like 25 minutes each.

What compressor do most recommend? How about the ones auto part stores loan out?
I could consider doing the 5100s myself… back for sure are easy…

I am thinking of getting this kit from Amazon, other kits look too flimsy.

Get this one as a DIY. Much safer and you can sell it for what you paid after you are done. Retail is about $100
It has the ability to completely compress a standard strut spring.
