To take the preload out of the spring. However, the more I read the less I'm unsure of my understanding of preload and ride quality with the 6112s. My 6112s are already assembled for 2" lift so I might just install them as is. My thinking was less preload = better ride quality, but I got to thinking and that would only apply if the front of the truck remained at the same height. The spring height will remain the same regardless of where the perch is set.

Seems it all might be moot since stepping up to a LT tire will negate any ideas of retaining ride quality anyways. Trying to toe the fine line between having fun with the truck while keeping the wife appeased since this is our road trip vehicle. For a little while, I was worried about the ride for our 3 month old but he's slept through everything with the 5100s in the back.

My truck has 5100s and my wife has never complained nor did it effect either kid when they were babies (4.5 and 3 now)

We drive my truck everywhere despite the wife having a nice Edge.

I'll show my wife your post if she complains after I install the 6112s lol. I know the baby won't care.

I have read this thread up and down and honestly I can't seem to find an exact answer. I have a 2019 Platinum with Bilstein 6112's in the front. I was looking at running some 305/55r20 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on the stock 20in Platinum wheels. My question is, will they rub the control arms and if so how big of a wheel spacer do I need to avoid the rub? I would love to not run wheel spacers and if need be, I can always put on some 275/65 Recon Grapplers on instead. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

A 32.5" tall x 12" wide tire really shouldn't rub at all if you those 6112s add even a half inch of level.

I appreciate all the replies. I just had concerns about running an almost 12.5 wide tire on stocks. Thanks for the help. Will post a picture within the next week when I get them installed.

lots of guys are running true 33x12.5 or 35x12.5 on stock wheels and aren’t rubbing. a 305 is a 12” width. I’m running a 315/70/17 on raptor take offs and don’t come close to rubbing the control arm. can’t wait to see your pics.

Heck brother I'm running Raptor take offs (2023 model) and 35" K02s on 17s with only a 2.25 ReadyLIFT level. Those are 12.5 wide, no offset and ZERO rub
Anywhere on my 15 Lariat FX4 SCrew
