Do you have the LKA? If so, does the button retain its location if replaced with the pocket vs the shifter?

Yeah, but what's the point with a 5.slow?

I don't really *need* the paddle shifters. But the centering stripe will match my SE interior, and I have to disassemble everything to do the shifter swap... so, while it's in pieces, why not?

Not yet, was waiting to upgrade to the 2018 which I just did today so I will be adding all add-ons to my build. You will probably get to your before I do as i may have to upgrade my dash harness since I now have the 2018. Let me know how your build is going.

I received a PM from a member asking some questions about the console install and floor shift conversions on a 2018 truck. Here a few things I've learned from doing mine.

When I did mine I bought a salvage console from a 2016 truck, not realizing there are a few differences. Some are minor some what I consider major and should be considered when converting a column shift truck to floor shift on a 2018+ truck.

One minor difference was the console is itself is a slightly different design. The front Sync cubby where the USB ports are located on the earlier trucks is actually part of the console. On later trucks 2018 and maybe 2017 (Not Sure) the cubby is separate part.

This probably does not affect the installation, and either console will work, just something I noticed during the installation. In my case I wanted a Camel color and the salvage console was Black so I attempted to paint the black console Camel. This turned into a epic fail so I ending up buying a new bare console from AutoNation White Bear Lake in correct color for a 2018 truck and discovered I needed the cubby and mat too. I was able to use a bunch of expensive trim parts from the salvage console so salvage unit was far from a waste of money. Other parts required for the console install is the A/C vent trim on both sides, they have a cutout for console. There is also a trim piece below the HVAC bezel and the console that's different with or without a console.

Console from a early truck.

Console on later trucks. Notice the cubby is separate part. The mat is a different shape and the USB ports are on the left on the later trucks. It looks like Ford didn't change the console drawing itself to reflect the the changes, Just added the new part. Tasca and ANWBL's website only shows the first design. These pictures were grabbed from parts.ford.com.

Issue # 2, what I considered major. The 10 speed shifter and cable are different from a 6 speed. The 6 speed has an extra notch so I bought a 10 speed shift lever and cable for a 10 speed. The shifter "might" work but I didn't want to chance it just from the safety standpoint. The cable without a doubt will NOT WORK.

This the is a 10 speed shifter. Notice the area above the white manual lockout release is different and as I said before has one fewer stops. One other obvious difference is on the part I think Ford calls the lower panel, its the part that says PRND21 on a 6 speed and PRNDM on a 10 speed. While they would work was not acceptable for me with my OCD. so I bought a new one. Just by chance the part I ordered was from a VIN prior to the change where the PRNDM IS illuminate, so I have a light on the one I bought. I don't think that part is available any longer, this part was more expensive then the newer revised part.

6 Speed Shifter

Since we are on the shift cable clamp thingy under the truck on a 10 speed is very easy to remove once you see how it works. Below is a video on how to release it using a stubby Philip head screw driver.

There a also a part Ford calls a nut and bolt that holds the cable in place on the floor shift or the steering column inside the cab. They can be reused from the column shifter to the floor shifter.

The other thing I was able to use from salvage console was the wire harness, I don't have heated seats so that part of the harness was unused near the drivers seat. The shifter connector is the same on 10 & 6 speed shifter I wasn't able to find a mating connector to harness and I didn't want to hard wire it to the truck so found a
16 pin connector from Amazon 16 pin connector from Amazon
that had enough pins to wire to the existing dash harness running wires from the steering column down to the Amazon connector and locating near the same location as the factory connector at the front of the console.

As for the wiring I removed the column shift lever and stripped the wires back then studied how it worked and used an ohm meter to figure out what wires do the function and their equivalent for the floor shift. I also used a 12 volt power supply to verify the solenoid functionality on both shift levers. I had previously installed Raptor shift paddles so I had some experience with some of the wiring.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction OC Mike and tvsjr. I have to figure out if I will do the whole dash harness swap or splice into both console and column or buy a new console. Thanks and I will keep you posted on my project.
