I have sync 3 and there is no way to change the wallpaper

 

Any idea if they will retro the SYNC2's?

 

Doubt it. Totally different hardware.

Well, I'd say that sucks...but since Sync 2 is all I know and it's pretty all right, I'll put a smile on my face and keep on truckin

 

Sync 2 Sucks! Never recognizes my commands, hands free navigation commands are atrocious, and often times I find myself repeating myself, and I give up and grab my phone instead.

Comparison - Siri vs. Google Now. Google voice recognition is leaps above Siri. However, Siri is legions above Sync 2. It's 2016, why can't the truck respond to your voice as well as your phone can?

If you know what commands to use and the order in which to use them the Sync voice recognition is very good if you ask me. Just have to know how to talk to that *****.

 

Haha, man I know what you mean. I've definitely learned the order of commands but ya know, and not trying to me Debbie downer by any means, but I would only assume a sequence such as this 1. Me: *Push voice command*
2. Sync 2: "Say a Command"
3. Me: "Take me to "XXXX"
4. "Please say a device name" (or whatever it says)

You do this same sequence on just about any smart phone and a point or address is found and at worst it asks for confirmation.

I get that there are several feature items this A.I. computer is capable of taking commands to control, but so does our phones. And the fact that Sync 2 and 3 differ in hardware instead of software (firmware) just disappoints me for any possibility of improvements of accuracy.

Our phones even learn from consistent commands, such as instructing a call to a contact. The first few times it may ask you to confirm the contact based on similar sounds or even multiple phone numbers. Eventually, in my experience anyway, my phone learned who to call or what number. When calling through Sync 2, I have several contacts that I have to manually select from the list no matter how I pronounce them or how many times I've selected the same person. If this wasn't a $50k vehicle it may be different but I hope there will be a fix for such inadequacies soon.

I will add that I have seen the same issues with GM products so this isn't limited to just our beloved F-150s.

 

Unfortunately 2015s have the final hoorah for Sync 2 so we probably won't be getting many more updates to improve things.
