Hints, Tips and Tricks
Read on another forum the "fix" for the auto start / stop delete / disable was to just cut the end off a zip tie and it squeezes in perfectly to "hold" the Off button in the Off position.
There is no Off position. It's a spring-loaded microswitch that alternates between On and Off when pressed. Not sure if jamming it in would work, but there are numerous much better solutions.
A.S.S. was invented and adopted first by European and Japanese manufacturers which faced higher gas pricing and tougher economy tests with more stop/idle time than in the U.S. American manufacturers adopted it more recently as U.S. CAFE requirements increased and came to include light trucks. At least Ford provided a switch to turn it off; some manufacturers don't.
I have a '15! Im home!! Good to know Im in the right part of the forum..
I purchased my truck out of state. So when I receive my tags in the mail, I will be taking it for state inspection, emissions, transmission service and a once-over. If my mechanic can "locate" a device on my truck, I will let you know what it is. In all fairness, I have not been driving it enough to say if anything computer related will fail or would have quirks.
As for the auto start/stop feature in and of itself, I think it is one of dumbest things ever thought of. Probably invented by someone who holds a bunch of ignition-related manufacturer stock. Then there is the engineer two seats over who says to himself "WTF man!? I am going to add a button on the dash to turn that sh** off because it's a stupid idea" Then there is the guy at the board room table who says "Wait, let's charge the customer an easy $50 to permanently disable that feature" Personally, I would quickly get in the habit of pressing that button as part of my get-in-and-go routine - IF I had to. But why should I??

Thankfully I don’t have a vehicle with the start stop feature. But a friend of mine has a F150 with it and said that when you have a trailer hooked up for towing with the trailer lights connected the truck will automatically disable the *** feature. So when not towing, a way to fool the system is to put in one of those receiver hitch lights that connects to your trucks trailer electrical outlet for power.
