Inspection is due next day, and of course one of my brake lights burns out. No big deal, I buy a pair of bulbs on the way home...
Next morning is cold and I warm up the truck while changing the bulb.... NO LIGHT!
I can see the old bulb is burned out, but neither of the new bulbs seem to work. Now I don't know what to do.
So I take it to get inspected. and it PASSES!
The computer would not recognize the new bulb until it rebooted!

One further question, I have heard that to disable the tailgate lock you cut the green-white wire on the tailgate wiring harness. Is this correct?

the green-white wire is camera on a 2017
you want the grey-brown wire to disable lock.
just make sure its unlocked when you cut it.

Without reading 179 pages, so it may be a repost - get your lie-o-meter closer to hand calculated MPG in engineer mode. Press the "OK" button on the steering wheel and hold it down while you start the truck. You can then press the down key to cycle through the options until you get to one called AFE BIAS. It's default is 1000. Lower it (mine is pretty accurate at 975 although there is an 'official' way to calculate it found here https://www.f150forum.com/f118/fix-i...inutes-421912/ ) and fine tune it through your next couple of gas ups.

Default Change display theme and run diagnostics

Just traded my 2011 XLT SCrew for a 2017 3.5 L EcoBoost SCrew. Night and day....I'm really enjoying this "new to me" truck. I've read through this whole thread (mostly) and also viewed the .PDF file. But, something I found from a dealer who posted a video and don't believe it's been mentioned here.

If you press and hold both the right triangle buttons simultaneously (one on the steering wheel and one on the radio console....these are the buttons you use to either scan radio stations or move thru your presets), it will open up a diagnostics menu. It starts off with a walk-around speaker test where it plays a tone for every speaker. After that, you get the screen that is attached. I haven't yet looked into what these diagnostics are for, BUT, one thing it will let you change is under the "TEST SETTINGS". It will let you change the theme for the main display. You have options like ford-vintage and ford-mustang. It seems that some of these themes are really the same. But, I changed mine to the lincoln-presidential theme and kind of like it.

So, just something else to throw out there!

You can also set it so that the test settings is a menu icon on the touchscreen under "settings", so you can skip the double-button hold when you want to use it.

So when you change your theme, it sticks? I can change mine and it works, but always reverts back to the default after an engine cycle.

Yes, that is true. The theme setting is only temporary. Still a cool little "Easter egg" kind of thing.

I think you can make it stick with Forscan.

To get the trans gear on the cluster hit the plus button on the left side of the shifter while in drive. you can also control what gears you can reach while driving. ie if you have the gears showing while in drive and you hit the minus button you will notice the 6 dissappear and you will only be able to shift up to 5.

If you have a Ford bedliner, there is also a specific hole covered by a rubber plug through which you can access the button for the bed lights.
