This is just not the case.. I have a tow strap back there, a collapsible snow shovel, an emergency down blanket, and a few other items..none of those are going in from the bottom up. OBTW I figured it out, this video was by far the most helpful...the strap was considerably further to the right than I expected.

If you have the premium stereo system the area behind the drivers side rear seat is where the sub woofer is located, so there is actually very little room there to fit anything at all unlike the passenger side rear seat where the jack is located.

I can understand this, but let me ask if your locking point on the driver side back seat is metal (back of seat)... the same as the passenger side which Ford assumed would be used often for the jack?

If not, then the more you unlock it and lock it the looser it gets? Not idea for storage space. Or the pin which it latches on is metal?

PS, I noticed in the video that the pin wasn't metal. Your backseat will get louder the more you use it. Not the passenger side though. Ford basically said... hey we can save more money by going with a plastic pin on the driver side and hide the access for the latch.

I'm sure mine is metal,, and all the stuff I store back there will keep it from making any noise.

everyone beat me to it.. metal.. and everything back there is emergency items. I also have a Tuffy storage box on the way.. I am trying to eliminate everything from the bed of the truck, where I have carried a bin full of gear for decades.

yep, metal. this is why i traded my dodge in for FORD. no shortcuts or cheaping out. dodge was notorious for that. loved the truck, not so much the company.

Good deal on the metal pins.. mine had groves wore through the plastic pin only after a few uses. I'll be replacing it with a metal one, (machinist) to get more storage space use. Good learning from this thread and thankful.

Mine is metal. And the most useful piece of information I found to make the process simpler is that the slot the pin is in angles on a curve, upward, toward the back wall of the cab and then curves gently upward. Once I learned that, the pin was super easy to manipulate. I can do it with the forefinger of either hand pretty easily. Just concentrate on pulling the pin backward and upward at first and it's a snap to do. And thanks goes to some poster way, way earlier in this thread for pointing this out!
