Same here! I think you're right on about the subliminal affect. The more people start talking about a subject the more frequently it can potentially plant a seed. Having said that, what's good for some may not necessarily be good enough for others. It's a good thing to always want to make something better. . . .
I've said this about every Ford truck I've owned since 2010 they've all had crappy headlights. The last 3 trucks I've put less than 20,000 miles them.
I don't normally drive the truck on weekends, during the day. Trust me , if you're having issues with your truck, I won't be brain washed into thinking my truck has these problems.
I just drove to work this morning here in SE lower Michigan from Plymouth to Livonia (4 miles) in VERY dense fog and i saw just fine, no different than any other vehicle i've ever owned. My stock headlights work completely normal.
caviat: I do have Diode Dynamic LED fogs, but... during the drive i switched them off and back on a few times...even with the fog lights OFF...still could see just fine and as good as most other vehicles.
For those who see fine with the headlights , that's awesome. I asked what other who couldn't see with the headlights, what have you done to make them better.
Like I said I don't want to blind incoming traffic, I don't need the most expensive lights on the market. Would changing the color of the lights help? Say they're a 4K temp and I buy 6k temp light.
A whiter light might make them brighter , any thoughts. This will be my last leased vehicle, my wife is buying an SUV, I will drive her paid off car. Then when her SUV is paid off I'll buy another truck. So in 2 years this truck goes away that's why I don't want to invest $1,500.00 into headlights for it.
Just posted this in another thread but I'll copy it here ($19 from Amazon):
For those talking about bulbs, in my experience the Silverstars do burn out faster. I would highly recommend Phlips NightGuide bulbs. Had them for years in my Xterra. WAY brighter than standard halogens and have 3 colored zones like so:
The left lights up with a yellow hue to reduce glare for oncoming traffic. The right has a blue tinge to help light up streetsigns better. And the middle is a nice pure bright white to light up down the road. These are the best bulbs I've ever purchased and I highly recommend them.
2010stx4by4- i would just go get the headlights aimed properly or...
since the factory headlights are halogen, you can go to any good auto parts store and get HID replacement bulbs for about $100 or so.
the HID's are brighter and should blind anyone if they are aimed correctly.
Maybe this has already been discussed, but what issues would there be with only running LEDs in the high beams? They shouldn't be on when other vehicles are in oncoming traffic so I don't see why it would matter..
When I get my oil changed I'll have them check the headlight alignment. I doubt it's the headlight alignment though, my friend CJ says he gets flashed by other vehicles all the time too. We will see though.
