My dealer doesn't know about the recall, but said they must inspect it first before verifying the necessary repair

Default Recall

I got a call from Ford service rep. telling me of the recall and it needed it to be inspected by any dealer he is going to follow up on Monday. I Have never gotten a call before always a letter in the mail. I am going to drop it off at the dealer tomorrow.

Mine was built 3/23 but doesn't show up in Ford's recall notices site. Wouldn't be surprised if that's only for US vehicles though. I wonder if this steering related recall might possibly be related to the poor steering of my Platinum. I haven't driven a vehicle that is this much of a pain to steer since the early 1980s.

I'm not sure I could cut a dealer much slack on this. I mean, it's a recall for one of Ford's prime vehicles. Not to mention he/she/it should be staying on top of these kinds of things as part of good customer service. It's not like they get 200 different recall notices a day.

Nice. Make sure you mention what good service that is. I'm sure they appreciate it. All dealerships should function this way. It's a little bit of effort to call your customers but it goes a long way.

Went to the dealer today for the recall, and they checked My steering shaft rivets to see if they were properly staked. If the rivet head is mushroomed to larger than 3/8" ,then you are OK. Mine is OK, so even if Your truck was built within the dates the recall specifies, not all trucks steering shaft rivets are defective. I have the recall instructions with inspection photos to post, but the site won't let Me attach photos today .

That's a hell of a miss! Someone at Ford needs to check the QC system.
