When I started the truck this morning it said the update was complete and would become active after the truck was restarted. Well after a restart, I am still running version 2.0 Load 16074.

What did I do wrong?
So I tried the same flash drive 2 more times and got the same result. I downloaded the file from the Ford Sync website. Is there a better place to get the file?

Is there a way to choose Ford Nav or Apple Car Play? Car Play is the default.

Under the Sync 3 settings you can activate or deactivate Car Play. Go into settings and scroll over, you will see it.

If you deactivate Car Play then the Sync 3 navigation becomes the default. Did I not make myself clear?

You cannot use Ford Nav while Apple Carplay is active.

I just upgraded to JR3T-14G381-AK build 17307 and it took about 10 minutes. No issues so far.

And when using Apple Carplay you can only use Apple Maps. Apple doesn't allow 3rd party nav apps with Carplay. If you want flexibility, wait for the Waze/Sync integration to come out in a month or two or switch to Android. Android Auto lets you choose a select few nav apps, and Google Maps and Waze are pretty much the best there is for online nav anyway. Google Maps is also decent in offline mode as well. Waze does cache to mitigate loss of signal/poor signal but it is really most effective with a constant data connection.

Any noticeable differences?

I haven't had the chance of driving the truck enough to fully test to see if there are any differences.

So I tried to browse though 500+ plages to try and see how everyone was doing the upgrade and I really can't find the answers to my questions. If anybody could help, that would be great.

1. I have a 2016 XLT running Sync 3 Version 1, build15139. What version do you have to upgrade to use Apple CarPlay?

2. Where would you download the latest/most stable update from?

3. After the update and replacement of the USB box, is there anything else that needs to be done?
