Hi All,
Is there any way to get google Maps (from android auto) to show up on the home screen?

--OR--
is there a way to get the default Sync Nav back on the home screen when the phone is plugged in.

Basically i dont care which map ends up here, but would like to have one of them..

If you disable AA on your Sync unit, the Sync 3 map will show up on your home screen.

 

Thanks! Yeah, I have one on order, but I do no think it has shipped yet, so hopefully I will get it this week. I am hoping I can use carplay and basically by-pass the issues I am having, when I get it and install it I will report back.

 

The advanced voice recognition has to be activated after each start. It's a known issue found and posted on the Fusion forum. Nothing else so far.

I've been reading about Waze being integrate into the navigation but I know that hasn't happen yet. I downloaded the app and it works but the audio in Waze (voice commands) turn off the audio of everything but the voice commands.

Am I missing a switch somewhere?

The way AA (And Carplay) work is they are basically exclusive for the functions they support; you use them for Nav/Music/Phone/Text/Voice control and only go in to Sync for unrelated vehicle functions/settings. Sync (as it tells you when you first enable AA or Carplay) will disable other functions when either AA or Carplay are enabled and a compatible phone is plugged in.

I'm guessing you have AA enabled and use it but also have Sirius and like to switch between. Unfortunately that is one of the problems with how the Smartphone world has implemented with OEM systems. If you want the stock Nav back on the Sync Home screen you need to disable AA/Carplay to my knowlege. It is not an elegant solution if you are in that position but it is what it is.

I am pretty sure Sirius still plays if you have it selected as the audio even if AA or Carplay is running but you have to switch back and forth to see the channel list/etc.

 

Can anyone tell me how to force an install? I am on version 17194 on three of my Fords (GT350, Wife's RS, and my F150) and all three are MASSIVELY lagging. Some button presses take 45-60 seconds to see response unless my iPhone is plugged in. All three worked fine for several weeks but have been seeing issues as of late 4-6 weeks from the last upgrade. Master reset or even dealer updates have not worked. I have tried the latest package but it errors out with latest package installed.

I am using my F150 as the test bed but I have pissed my wife off with screwing with her RS so please take pity on me! Any help or guidance would be appreciated, I would like to get her and us off of 17194 but short of the official release I am struggling.

Thanks for attending to my plight, lol. No, no cover under any circumstances. I am aware that CD doesn't normally display (to be honest, I don't recall if SYNC 3 ever displays CD cover now). I have a hard drive plugged in, with hundreds of songs in mp3 or other supported files, I also have the carplay (sans factory Nav). Carplaying music on my iphone displays no cover but it's the way it is, so I believe it's just those files on my Seagate hard drive that won't show cover. I played around the GRACENOTE on and off etc etc, no change.

 

Just an update to anyone who has helped me or was following my issues...

I hooked my truck up to the battery charger for about 2 hours one night, and no issues the next day... Hooked it up about an hour the next night, and all issues are still there... (this was an attempt to make sure my battery was not giving off low voltage to Sync3 and causing issues from that)

I think the first day was just a coincidence, as I have mentioned, sometimes everything works perfect, and other days it has the numerous issues mentioned earlier.

That being said, I am going t have my battery tested to make sure I don't have a bad cell or anything like that. Good news is my USB Hub that will allow carplay (fingers crossed) was shipped today - so fingers crossed it works and will allow reliable carplay and I will just let the sync3 act as it pleases in the background.
