Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
I don’t believe so. According to a press release I read last week during CES, Waze will be releasing a new version around March that will utilize the SDL/AppLink API’s used in Sync3. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong). However that functionality/version of Waze, when released, will require Sync3 v3.0.

I see the the Sync 3 jailbreak is coming along well:
What you see are two Sync 3 Mods: video and custom backgrounds (no additional hardware is needed).
Do not ask for a release date, there is no ETA yet.
Credit goes to a small worldwide team.

Sorry, I do consider myself fairly handy... and I used to work in car audio at Circuit City, so that is definitely a thought that has crossed my mind... My thinking at the moment is along the lines of if it is working when I park it in the garage... how could the connection become loose sitting there until I restart it... additionally, I feel that if it were a loose wire, that going over a railroad track for instance should knock it loose and cause issues, but that does not seem to be the case. I also know though with electrical issues that it can be extremely add instances that cause them...
If Carplay is not reliable once the USB hub is switched out... that is probably my next step before ordering a new APIM...

At the least get the part number off the back of the APIM and see if you could pick up a used one if you want to stay away from a dealer or if the dealer doesn't help.
I was not certain before, as I do not use the Nav or Maps everytime... but I have been paying more attention and trying to figure out the issue, and I have determined that whenever one part is having trouble the other is as well...
Could it be some sort of short or something int he start up sequence that is giving it an error?

Since you've noticed the two being related (Nav and phone issues), I would do the following focusing on Nav: Nav booting can be extremely finicky if all conditions aren't perfect, especially on a true power cycle. If it doesn't boot properly the first time, issues can persist on subsequent soft boots. Next time it isn't working, go outside, not in the garage, and do a true power cycle either with removing the battery terminal or pulling the proper fuse. Let it boot properly with a good GPS signal, and see if your issue returns as long as the vehicle remains outdoors. If the Nav antenna is loose or weak, you will have these issues of persistent Nav errors, even after the connection reestablishes. I test a lot of these on the bench and will encounter strange gps issues when all conditions aren't perfect, many that will persist until the next true power cycle. Even though your truck doesn't move overnight, temperature changes from heat/cold soaks and the vibration of starting are enough to trigger bad connections on or off.
I'd also make sure your battery is in good health. A bad battery can still start a vehicle. If the voltages go down enough it'll put some modules in weird states.
If the issue persists after the above, I would scan the APIM for DTCs, as any stored DTCs can cause the Nav to function improperly, which seems related to your phone issue.
You didn't comment on my offer a few pages back, so just in case you missed it, I noticed you are in NE Georgia and you're welcome to try one of my APIMs if you are ever in the Nashville area.
