I did, but wanted to rule out other issues.

Got the hub, installed it (real pain to get the old one out), things working well now. At first I plugged it into the right-hand port and it didn't work. Then tried the left and it was fine, then the right again and it was fine. Then tonight I got a new cable and same experience, right port didn't work but left did.

 

1.0 from factory, to 2.2 as released on this forum, to the early release of 3.0 from this forum, back to 2.3 as released on owner.ford.com.

 

I hope you understand what youre in for and realize just how much re wiring is needed. The fact you had to ask is a red flag to me, because unless if you bought 4D techs harness (in which case you wouldnt even need to make your post), then USB hub wiring should be the least of your concerns.

The reason I say that is to get to this point: dont waist money on a usb harness for power, making your own will be the easiest part of the entire process.

On My Ford Touch to Sync 3 installs I save the old sd card hubs or USB hubs, take them apart, and build my own conversion harness out of the molex plugs I cut off the PCBs.

Yes. I had no problems at all.

 

I just spent about 30 minutes searching here and in Forescan thread for a post that lists what is new in 3.0 but could not find it... is there one that someone can point me to? Thanks!

 

It seems that 3.0 is about + 0.8 better than 2.2 and + 0.7 better that 2.3, that is the only difference.

 

I have a buddy who is on Sync 3 v1.0. On Ford Owner site it says that 2.3 is available. I assume it is safe to directly update to 2.3 without going through 2.2.

Anyone can confirm this?

 

Just realize 3.0 is not an official f150 release. I have never seen any notes other than mention of them being on a Russian forum in Russian
