Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
Yep, I was getting the same error. Like @Cuch said, if you follow his excellent tutorial you'll be back in business in no time. Mine has been flawless since followikg his rollback procedure and then installing straight to v3.0 17276.
My new 2018 F150 Lariat is going to be delivered to me in a couple weeks. I already have the VIN. I added the vehicle to my Ford Owner account. I have the non-nav B&O Play Premium Audio. I just checked the Sync version. Here's what I got:
******************
Date Confirmed: Nov 1, 2017 Version: SYNC3 v2.3
JL1T-14G381-AJ
This software release is the latest update in our continued efforts to improve system performance, device connectivity, and the overall SYNC experience.
This software contains all previous enhancements, so there is no need to install any other updates. The installation of this update will take up to 60 minutes to complete. DO NOT remove your USB drive or turn off your vehicle. You must wait until Installation Complete is displayed on the center screen before removing your drive or turning your vehicle off.
While the update is loading, SYNC will not recognize your mobile phone or media device. Be sure your vehicle engine is running (not in accessory mode) throughout the entire installation process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you initiate the installation process, once the download process has begun, you may drive your vehicle.
*****************************
I just did a search on JL1T-14G381-AJ, and absolutely nothing popped up for search results. I see reference in this thread to Sync3 v3.0. No updates were offered through Ford Owner. Anybody have any idea why my new truck seems to have a version nobody else has?

On your owner.ford.com page, select Full Sync History, then click click the “+” sign to access the revision history. I’m sure they updated the software at least to enable the WiFi hotspot in Sync.
I just noticed on my owner page that v.2.3 is available for installation on my 2017 Platinum. It also indicates JL1T-14G381-AJ. No details of what new features are included are indicated. I’m interested to see what other changes are available since my truck doesn’t have the WiFi hotspot hardware.

Please post back after you update and let me know if you notice any changes.
I have a Pioneer NEX deck in my old truck, with full wireless interactive mirroring of my Android phone screen on the deck through Chromecast. So Sync and Android Auto is actually a significant step back for me. But putting an aftermarket deck into the current F150 design makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I had an iPhone 6S running an untethered jailbreak on an early build of iOS 10 and it worked very well especially if you want to run youtube on carplay. But with iPhone 7 and up jailbreaks for 64 bit versions of iOS simply dont exist and even if they did there is no work arounds for late builds of iOS 10 let alone iOS 11.
