I have Android auto and the new USB hub and don't have any issues.

Sometimes even the usb cable can cause throughput problems too if you bought a cheap one.
Never updated the hub. I'm using the cable that came with the phone. It's a USB A to USB C. Phone is a Google Pixel. I never had the issue with version 2.2. It was strange. It showed the AA icon on the Sync screen, and would register that I pressed it, but never would switch. It seems fine now though. I would say the first 5-7 times I connected this happened.

New USB hub has updated drivers for it built into sync 3 V2.0 and up. It may likely be your issue.

I thought the upgraded hub was for apple carplay to work. I did niot uograde my hub because no one here uses Apple products.

No problems at all using LG phones on sync3 ver2.0 or ver 3.0.

I also read somewhere that something like turning off wifi and auto updates or some combination of those would get rid of the problem you are having. I would have to go back and look.

If you can't find the fix, do a master reset and put your 2.2 upgrade back into it.
For the record, this 'master reset' you speak
of, is it the master reset that you see in the Sync 3 GUI or is it a physical, take-APIM-apart sort of reset?

I'm just curious if there is a set of pins in there someone can jumper to clear any NV Ram.

I've taken many APIM's out but I've never had one completely apart.

It is. How do you think that happens? last time I checked Ford hasn't been able to implement magic yet; that's only available in Volkswagens.

Personally I think its ridiculous. There are USB standards that makers follow to avoid problems like this but Apple chooses to ignore them I guess. Glad I use Android.

This was posted on the Mustang Group..

SYNC 3 VERSION 3.0 RELEASE (North America) !!!!!!

*** Since this is a new version, it warrens a new thread ***
*** This was tested on a NAV version, Test on a NON Nav at your own risk ***
** Update at your own risk, i do not take responsibility over nothing **
The source of this update came from an Anonymous friend to the Ford Sync 3 community in Poland

The time is now, welcome welcome welcome
I have installed, it is working flawless.
No change log, things i have noticed:
1. New Nav Icon.
2. Fixed keyboard, $ added symbol.
3. MUCH faster Android Auto, smother, snappier.
4. Support for new apps.

Please download, and re-upload to more mirror locations. I have uploaded to a free web hosting account therefore it will be slow to download.

Installation instructions:
1. Download.
2. Unzip.
3. Grab a USB Flash Drive, 4GB is fine.
4. Format the drive to either exFAT or FAT32.
5. Put the extracted files inside the flash drive.
6. Turn car on.
7. Plug in car and profit !!!
***** Note that depending on your USB device it might take up to 10 minutes for the stereo to show "Updating System"... *****
Our car USB is NOT USB 3 therefore read speed is limited, so if you don't see anything, DO NOT unplug - just wait....
When i updated i drove on my way to work and it picked up after 7 minutes, it just take time to copy the files into the stereo RAM.

Someone was asking about adding Wi-Fi to their 2017, the answer is not the factory method. I noticed on my 2018 the Wi-Fi hot spot pops up on the FordPass app.....so it’s activated by Vin in fords system. Sure you can aftermarket it with a Dongle
