Current SYNC 3 and CarPlay/Android Auto Information
Sorry if this question has been asked before, but...
My Motorola Z Force Droid is not on the approved phones list. I turned Android Play on and loaded Android Auto on the phone. When I plug the phone in, it and Sync 3 seem to communicate (phone screen goes into what looks like driving mode) but when I look for connected apps I still get a 'No apps found' message.
I upgraded Sync via Wi-Fi and it's on v2.2. My hub is blue. I don't understand why some Droid phones are on the list, but mine isn't.
It seems to me that if a phone is running an Android OS (at a certain revision level) then it should work. What the heck does the hardware have to do with anything?
I'm really disappointed that I can't use Android Auto, and I hope my phone will be on the approved list in an upcoming release. Like another user (and probably more than one) have done, I didn't get the Nav pkg. BECAUSE of the AA feature, believing I would be able to SYNC Waze to my touchscreen.
I can stream audio over bluetooth from my phone. I can make/receive calls from my phone. I can see my contacts from my phone. But 'No Connected Apps.'

Haven't heard of Sync3 version 2.2, yet. You may want to post a picture of your about/version screen. The color of the hub dines't matter and the good thing for you is that the hub doesn't need to be upgraded for AA.
I have a post July build 2016 F150 XLT with 2.0 already installed. I ordered HC3Z-19A387-B (BLUE BACKLIGHTING) from FordPartsGuru.com on 11/23. It showed up today, 11/30. I used a plastic trim tool kit and swapped out the part in under 5 minutes. Turned on the truck, plugged in the phone, and CarPlay launched. Worked like a charm. Thanks for posting the part numbers. Awesome!
Mike
there's two plugs on the back on the hub, one 4 prong for power and the second one is a usb connection. Just push in the tabs on the connectors to pop them off.

Well My truck did something cool last night. I started the truck off and 10 minutes later restarted it, screen completely black. Nothing I did brought it back even turning the truck off, opening the door then restarting. I could still control the music but no screen at all. about 2 hours later I turned the truck off to refuel and when I started the truck again it showed the A/C controls but I don't have auto climate control.
I'm going to try and update to 1.1 now. Unsuccessful, bluetooth, wifi, and using the USB method.

The 3rd party apps are currently limited to just providing audio content. Other apps are the built in apps on the phone (maps, phone, messages, Podcasts, Music)
