Column Shift or Console Shift
You can run a cord through the console cutout or back from the USB ports, I run a cord back from the USB for a direct android auto connection.
No doubt about it, center console 'stick' shifter.
I specifically sought out a Sport trim just for that in addition no chrome here and there.
Makes it feel a little like my old gear head days.
I have more than enough storage room in my center console.
I once had a hand me down '60 Chevy something for a short while with a column shifter and with a manual tranny. Never again.
For those who need to haul large amounts of people and maybe need a bench seat for that, yeah a column shifter does make more sense.

Yes, just what it's for, and it works well, can lean the phone to either side and it stays there nicely on its side, even the largest of phones. It's not necessarily obvious until you see or try it I suppose...I'm pretty sure it was intentional

Definitely one pro for the console with the charge port and other things like that.
The con is less room for storage. Noticed it my 3rd day (1st day to work after purchase) then I left the store with a sandwich from the deli and realized I couldn't keep it in arms reach to prevent it from being launched while in transit.
