Thanks again for answering. Not someone that will treat someone like a moron for asking a question, even though it could be simple.
I'm not knocking Canada. Do you know the difference between Canadian trucks and the U.S.? I have a question for you. Is a lot of the dirt up in Canada like red clay? All on the under carriage and lower engine compartment covered with a red dirt. How much difference are the roads treated during the winter in Canada compared to the U.S.? I had to do a front brake and the front rotors were seized on the hub. Luckily I was trashing them. I had to beat them off with a mini sledge. Down here in MA sand and salt mixture but mostly sand. You on the Eastern part of Canada, Mid West or West coast portion? Thank you.

Wolfie
No problem, happy to help. Not many differences between the two trucks, both go down the same assembly lines. I’d say the speedometer and country code are the only noticeable differences. I used to work for a company that reworked bad GM parts before they were installed and the only way we knew the part (Camaro mirror) was headed to the Middle East was a different part number and Arabic writing at the bottom of the mirror so it’s all basically the same until it goes to right hand drive or non English speaking country.

As for winters in Canada/southern Ontario, I’d say the closer to a major city (Toronto/Ottawa) they heavily salt to clear up the roads quickly. Up in my rural area, a couple hours east of Toronto, it’s a mix of sand and salt like you and that helps keep the rust down. I undercoat every year just for piece of mind. Honesty not sure where red dirt would be in vast quantities in Canada though.

Did you get access to the wiring diagram from the link?

Yea it’s either 10 or 15 minutes. I keep forgetting to check how long it takes to shut off after I turn it on but you are correct that there is a time limit on the defrost.

16F150,

Sorry for the late response. Computer crashed and wife was sick. Thanks for the link. Yes they did work. It is general but does help. Did you ever get the link for the manual to work? Do you have the 8 pin door harness in your truck or the 22 pin XLT?
Thanks,
Wolfie

Mlarv,

For the mirrors on your truck, do you have the 8 pin or the 22 pin harness in your door? If you have the 22 pin harness, the XLT or the Laret harness? With the XLT 22 pin harness you have to change out the door module in the door, correct? If you want the spot light you have to add the module, correct? If you do not want power fold or extend then the XLT harness will give you the heated mirror with some minor modification if you do not have the rear defroster, power adjust, directional, day runner lights and spot with the module, correct? Thank you.

I have the 8 pin harness. Yes the manual did work but it’s from a 2015. Basically the same but I have sync 3 so having the mft pinout doesn’t help me. Guy said he would look into it but haven’t heard back. If I get it sorted out properly I’ll send you the link.

Howdy, I have a Platinum. I am not sure of which wire harness I have. I was just showing another way to achieve the same thing. I did it on My FJ Curiser a few years ago.

I’m retrofitting my 2018 stock power mirrors (no other options other than that) so that I can add BLIS and heated glass. They are currently 8 pin so I’ll be modifying the mirror connectors and the door connectors by replacing them with 22 pin connectors and adding the missing wires on my door and mirror harnesses. It’s cheaper for me to update the door and mirror harnesses with the missing wires than buying new ones. It’s also cheaper for me to just buy the OEM glass and swapping that out vs buying new mirror assemblies.

Btw, I already have rear defrost so I don’t need anything else besides the missing wires on the door harness. As far as I can tell, you don’t need new door modules to get the heated glass to work since that circuit does not come from the door modules.

if you are missing pin 1 on your door harnesses, then you will need to either get new ones or add that missing wire for heated glass. You don’t need to convert to 22 pin connectors either as heated mirrors are supported on 8 pin connectors.

Hope this info helps.

I just added heated mirrors to my 2020 XLT and also swapped out the dash bezel to one with the defrost button,
in my case everything was plug and play.
I guessed that it would be, because when I checked the fuse box under the hood,
the fuses for rear window defrost and the heated mirrors fuse were present.

Did you check to see if you have the fuses present ?
It's possible that you may only need to add the heated mirrors fuse,
it's also possible that location in your fuse box doesn't have the wiring populated which will make this a lot harder.

If you look in your owners manual you can find a diagram of your underhood fuse box that
lists the number of each fuse and it's function,
then you can check to see if that fuse is present and if not check to see if you have terminals for a fuse or just a blank spot.
If the slot is empty, you should be able to tell by shining a flashlight into the slot if it has terminals for a fuse.

I am curious if your truck has everything in place and if it's an XL or an XLT,
mine is the 300A XLT, so it did not have heated mirrors or heated back window but,
it was prewired for those things including having the fuses present.
I also replaced my manual seat with a power one and, it was literally plug and play.
