Just posted my method in another thread. If you remove the rear defrost pin intact you won’t be cutting any wires and can easily return to stock later without issues. Took me a half hour going slow to do this once I got my heated mirrors.

You pop the mirrors out then take them apart place this on the back of the glass and reassemble the mirror. If you are unsure of doing this, drop by a glass shop they should be able to install them for ya.

Mlarv,
I have a 2016 XLT SCrew with the 8 pin mirror. I was going to be swapping them out for tow mirrors. I have purchased the 22 pin to 8 pin adapter for the mirrors. I do not have the rear defroster. From a company Frost Fighter purchased a kit that has a timer module with a switch for the power to the mirrors. Do you happen to know which pins are for the heated mirrors.
Thanks

The wire for the heated mirror in the mirror is pin 1 on the 8 pin layout and the 22 I believe. For the rear defrost button it’s pin 7 behind the FCIM (center stack bezel) the lower driver size connector. Depends where you want to wire it from. I’ll double check when I get my factory manual downloaded, hopefully tomorrow.

Thank you very much. I currently have the 8 pin basic mirrors with blind spot, power and that's it. Black with the chrome cap. I have read a lot of the threads on here about changing the door harness, adding the spotlight module, adding wires to the harness, adding resistors and diodes if want marker lights on all the time and act as directional. I will eventually do this. Just want to add tow mirrors for now with most functions. I do not have rear defroster so do not have the switch on HVAC control panel. Other members say that the brown wire pin 7 in the HVAC control is for the rear defroster. I came across a company called Frost Fighter that sells kits to add rear defroster to back window. I purchased a kit that has the timer controller with a switch to make the heated mirrors work. Where are you downloading your manual from? If possible could you please provide site? Thank you.

You’re welcome! Ok gotcha, the rear defrost button controls both the heated mirrors and rear defrost. I just bought a .pdf manual on eBay, waiting for a download link to get it. I’ll send the listing if you want after I verify it’s legit. Was $15 USD or $21 CAD. In the meantime use this link.

https://www.bbbind.com/tsb-wiring-diagrams/

I used that previously to get wiring diagrams and it worked well. When you follow the link put all your info in and they’ll send an email with a link to get access. Used to be a quick search but now they changed it a bit. Minor inconvenience but it’s free. I’m really sure it’s pin 1, I put a voltmeter in pin 1 when I turned my heated mirrors on and it showed 12v. Shut it off and showed 0v.

Thank you again! Do you have the standard 8 pin heated mirrors or 22 pin tow mirrors? You live in the Northeast? I will give the link you sent a try. Since I don't have a lot of the bell and whistle that some of the other models have, I'm going to do some myself. My truck was built in Dearborn,MI but sold in Canada. Spent time up there then by auction came across the border. Picked it up this past February. Only had 35K on it when I bought it. Only thing I hate about it is that it is a HD XLT. It has LT tires instead of P metric. I'm suppose to run tires at 55psi. Rides to stiff. Not using as work truck. Running psi down around 40 - 45 psi. Rides nice. It is the 5.0 Coyote motor. Only thing sometime is the rear axel hop over storm drains or bumps. Thanks again. Will sent some picts.

Just have the 8 pin mirrors but I read on another thread on here that the 1-8 pins on the 8 pin match up to the first 1-8 pins on the 22 pin mirrors (1-1,2-2,3-3 and so on) but once it gets past 8 it’s all sorts of different. Check the link once they send the email but if they don’t, give me a pm and once I get the manual downloaded I’ll look it up and confirm. I live in Canada so don’t worry about buying a Canadian truck, just make sure all the Tim Hortons cups are cleared out, maple syrup is replaced in the windshield washer fluid resivoir and the hockey stick leaf springs are replaced and you’ll be good!

Thanks again for answering. Not someone that will treat someone like a moron for asking a question, even though it could be simple.
I'm not knocking Canada. Do you know the difference between Canadian trucks and the U.S.? I have a question for you. Is a lot of the dirt up in Canada like red clay? All on the under carriage and lower engine compartment covered with a red dirt. How much difference are the roads treated during the winter in Canada compared to the U.S.? I had to do a front brake and the front rotors were seized on the hub. Luckily I was trashing them. I had to beat them off with a mini sledge. Down here in MA sand and salt mixture but mostly sand. You on the Eastern part of Canada, Mid West or West coast portion? Thank you.
