Take the plug out
Snip it off As close to the plug as possible
Wire colors should be the same
When you strip the wires, use a cigarette lighter. You burn the end and you can pull it off with your fingers.
Get some little tube connectors that you crimp the wires into. Crimp each end that you put the wire in.
Be gental when you install the plug into the alternator
Problem should be solved. Let us know
Start it up test the battery with the voltometer you bought. 20dc setting on that.

yeah im gonna work on it tomorrow on my day off and hopefully it all works out....im thinking of replacing all the wires that connect to that connector....it would be easy to just replace the plug but im debating on if i should do the whole wire replacement...idk if it would really make a difference

alright so i got me a whole new harness for the two plugs on the alternator and replaced the whole harness....this helped but apparently still has not solved my problem....the truck started up fine(with a fresh recharge/test on the battery and also tested my alternator yet again, which tested out good) and it ran just fine. i did the test of shifting it into gear and turning my turn signals on while my radio was playing and it didnt cut out.....so im thinking that i fixed it....then i put the volt meter on the battery and its only reading 11.50....so i take it out for a spin around the block and back and its still running fine....no problems or anything but still at 11.50....then i turn the truck off for maybe 10 to 15 minutes and go to start the truck...it turns over kind of slow but then fires right up....only thing is my solenoid(that i replaced before i put the harness in today) was sticking and it continued to turn over....if you have read my previous threads then you know i have had this problem before and i had replaced the solenoid, starter, positive battery cable, and starter switch....im not sure why its sticking now but i know that before i had replaced the switch there was a day that i had drove the truck and the battery had gotten drained just from my driving it to work because the cable was putting enough through the solenoid that it wasnt making the noise that it was stuck but it was actually stuck....at least thats what im assuming was happening....sorry for the long post but this is getting really frustrating....any suggestions??
