I seem to remember a few others havings problems with the MSD coil.

The pickup in the distributor. If its bad not much more $ to buy a rebuilt unit vs just replacing the pip they also replace bearings ect..

By unit do u mean the whole distributer?

OK so in the process of replacing the ignition control mod. But I can't get the modual out of the thing its bolted to Cuz I don't have a socket deep and thin enough to get to it??? I didn't think sockets got any thinner...lol is there something I'm missing here?

Special little tool they sell at the auto parts, thin walled socket with handle.

That's what mine is, I did the timing/ignition upgrade. I think its just because its a higher voltage so it wears faster and wears the components most directly attached to it faster. Could be shoddy craftsmanship, could just be bad parts we happen to get. Mine was good for two years before it went out, I keep the stock one as an emergency part to get my truck home if the coil goes out now.

OK so the ignition control mod. Was not the problem. But seems to have been part of it. Its only stalling at idle now. And its actually throwing a code! P1351. So seems like my next step is distributer?
