Default random stall

96 f150, 4x4 351
Rig is stalling randomly and without warning. It threw a code a few days ago for a crank position sensor. So I replaced the sensor but it is still randomly stalling and sometimes hard to start. When it stalls it is instant and only kills motor and sends no codes....
Anyone else ever have this problem?

Hmmm.... When the icm went out on mine it would turn over but not fire at all...

When you crank the motor a couple times walk over near the exhaust and make sure you smell some gas (do this at your own risk) lol if not/or if its intermittent you may have a somewhat clogged fuel line/filter...

If you smell gas consistently then as sean said, replace the icm/ptp...

Here is some info if you want to test it yourself:

Also make sure you have switched to the gas tank with gas in it

Hey thanks so much for the info and link. Finally got fed up when it finally happened and wouldn't start back up shortly after. So was about to call a tow truck when it finally did start. Took it to Firestone but after two days they couldn't get it to do it... so I'm back to sqaur one with a randomly stalling truck. I'll try and replace that icm first.

Simple electrical tests will help find it. Test plug wires, distributor, coil, ICM, pip.

Still test. When my coil went out it started as an intermittent issue then just died.

I tried a MSD coil few years back and the pip died within a week. Didnt want to find anymore weak links so went back to stock.

The random stalling started within a few days and then completely quit by a week.
