so yea, in one of these posts, i posted that my truck was kind of "hiccuping" and i was trying to figure out what it was.... i figured i would just "drive it untill it broke" and then i would figure out what the problem was.... i started my truck up the other day at a gas station, and noticed a weird high pitched noise that i heard inside of the cab with the windows up.... i was like what the
is that.... so i get out, and start walking towards the back of the truck (where the sound was coming from), and the noise quit.... it kinda had me stumped, untill i actually thought about it.... the sound was like the sound when a fuel pump primes itself when you turn the key on, but a little louder.... after i got to thinking more about it, "hiccuping" and loud high pitched noises coming from the rear of the truck, more than likely its the fuel pump.... someone asked me when was the last time i had changed my fuel filter, and i said the filter looked older than dirt and probably had never been changed.... with my truck just hitting 100,000 miles, i'd say its due for a fuel filter, but a dirty or clogged fuel filter wouldn't make my truck "hiccup" and make my fuel pump make weird sounds.... the truck "hiccuping" is more than likely the fuel pump getting weak (getting ready to go out) and not pumping the proper fuel pressure to the engine.... if it was a dirty/clogged fuel filter, more than likely the truck would just all of a sudden die and i would be able to restart it after a minute.... all in all, saturday comes around and ill be taking the fuel pump out of my parts truck, pulling the bed off of my truck, and swapping the pumps.... if anyone objects on the fuel pump being the problem, then post your opinion....

Well chances are you never chaning the fuel filter is what's causing your fuel pump to crap out. When the filter gets plugged that causes te pump to work like hell to push the fuel thro the filter causing it to get hot and ultimately burning it up. With the crappy gas that's around anymore i wouldn't go anymore than 8k on a filter.
The pump on the Frame whiles like hell after im done driving and im park, i also tried switching tanks but it didnt stop, then i remebered that the switch only powers the low pressure pumps. However im not getting any performance issues.

5 hours to do the fuel pump.... 5 hours sounds long, but my wedding band fell inside of my tank and it took me forever to find it lol but yea, 5 hours, cut my hands to pieces and blood was everywhere, 150 bucks for a fuel pump and a fuel filter.... and it didn't help not the FIRST THING!!!!!!!!!!!!! the truck still feels like it "hiccups" from half throttle to wide open.... it misses just a little when its at idle rpm and if i sock the gas to it to rev it up, it'll hesitate.... driving down the road, no throttle-1/4 throttle its fine... just when its 1/2 throttle-wide open..... and that noise from the rear of the truck when i start it is still happening every once in a while.... if i can't figure out what's wrong with it, then im going to roll it over a hill and watch it while i drink a beer.... i have no clue as to whats wrong with it because im not familiar with these trucks at all!! PLEASE HELP!!!

oh yea, and i even plugged the vaccum hose back up to the EGR valve because i was just curious to see if that would fix it, and it made no difference....

Hey, bro i was going to put my money on your fuel pump is out because of the high pitch noise it made and where it was coming from. I had a 96 pontiac Trans Am and it made that same noise and then wouldn't run anymore.

i just changed the fuel pump 2 days ago with a brand spanken new one.... that's whats got me stumped now lol the new pump wasn't no cheapo or anything like that, so i very HIGHLY doubt its a defective new pump.... i bought the best pump that they offered
I hear these trucks have issues with the idle air control... I don't know if that has anything with your issue. There are a lot of guys on here that seems to have experience with the idle air control and might have better input then me that this might be your problem. When is the last time the truck had a good tune up? New spark plugs, wires, distributor and all those things?
