i believe the IAC sensor is good because it idle's just fine at start up and after warm up.... the truck just had new plugs, wires, and a distributor cap on it about 5,000 miles ago.... the only thing is, is that i pulled one of the plug wires off about 3 months ago and the metal retaining clip came off from inside of the wire and stuck on the spark plug.... i pulled it off the plug and clamped it back to the wire, but i dont think thats whats wrong with it because its not a "miss in the motor", its more like a "hiccup" from half throttle, all the way to wide open.... idle and 1/4 throttle it's fine.... so im stumped

hey, I have a 96 f150 6cyl also. Can you tell me where the fuel filter is on the truck? I just got this truck Saturday so not sure where everything is. Is the fuel filter by the motor or somewhere else? The guy I bought the truck from said that he just replaced the fuel pumps and that he replaced the fuel filter when he did that. I'm pretty sure he did but want to look at it to see if it looks new to make sure. Because i want to do a tune up on the truck soon. Thanks

fuel filter is on the driver side, on the inside of the frame, right where the cab meets the bed.... that's the EXACT location of the filter lol does your truck have 2 gas tanks or just one?

Your truck is a '96 so it's OBDII. Not my specialty, but you still need to have the codes checked. Sounds like a TPS problem, which you can test, but you need to have the codes scanned first.

the only thing the OBDII told me, is EGR flow insufficient (thats because i took the vacuum hose off the egr valve and plugged the hose up).... and when i first done that, it threw a code for the o2 sensor but i forget what it said exactly, but it done that about 3 months ago and it hasn't threw the code since.... the OBDII hasn't said anything else

The motorcraft filters I replaced on mine were stainless steel casings so they did not look to old. Upon removal I drained the fuel that was in my filter out into a clear plastic jug and found that it was full of junk. Upon settling I had about half the level filled with dirt and rust.

If I knew anything at all about OBDII I would try to help, but I don't. Unfortunately since the '96 is the only OBDII truck in this section not many of us can help out. Those in the newer truck sections probably could help better.
