top one sends signals to the computer to adjust the engine.

bottom one is for the gauge.

With electrical, anything is possible. Just get a new one and plug it in to the connecter and see if it will start. Did it not start as soon as you broke it off, or has it been like that for a while?

its been like that for a while. but i havent tried to run the truck since before it happened. ive got it back together but it wont start. wondering if this has to be done asap, or if i should be looking elsewhere for the problem.

I wouldn't think it would cause it to just not start at all, but like I said, anything is possible. Just plug another one in to rule that out.
