Is there any last minute things I should do before replacing the ECU? Or is that the culprit??

Too bad you don't live closer to Long beach. I hate telling anybody to replace something that expensive w/o personally seeing the engine myself, but base solely on your info you have provided, sounds like the ECU.

Only other culprit I can think of, could be compromised connections (dirty, loose or loss of connection(s)). This could be either power to, or return ground path. If you decide to take electronic contact cleaner to any, disconnect battery first.

What if I were to take the ECM out and see if the connections to it are corroded or wet....Would that make a difference if I were to clean them and put some electric conductor spray on there???? I think that make be the last straw??? What do you guys think?

Let say I get a new ECM....Hook it all up and it does the same exact sh*t. What would be your second, and third options??? O and I forgot to mention the ABS, check engine, and Emergency brake light would always come on interminently. They would come on and off whenever they felt like it but the truck always ran fine so I didnt think anything of it.

Check the ground wires under the hood by the starter solenoid and it was tight and looked good....also one underneath the car by the starter looked good.....anything else before I change the ECM?

That sounds like the contacts in the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column.

After you remove it, if you also pull off the outer casing, You will likely see a fried circuit board. Maybe a smoke trail on the casing itself.

The connections at the computer are seldom a problem.

I believe you unsecured it inside the Cab & remove it through the firewall.

Anybody had to change out their ECU?

So I can check the ignition switch on the bottom of the steering column??? Is it a possibility it could also be the ECM. (ECM, PCM, EEC) all the same thing right? I took the computer out, it was relatively easy. You do everything under the hood, and you have to loosen the plastic wheel well to pull the computer out... Looked a little damp in there. I havent taken the metal casing off yet. I plan on doing it today. I want to just swap it out with a "known" good computer to see if that is the problem! lol. I can find one pulled out of a F-150 for 90 bucks. Would you guys do that or get the one I have rebuilt?
