Well your vehicle has two types of memory continuous memory and (kam) the keep alive memory which only stores non pending popped dtc's for retrieval at a later time. unfortunatly ford code 512 does not necessarily mean ecm failure. when you bridged the obd ports to read the codes did you hit any of the other pins in the connector?Their is a few things it could be - It could mean that the power sourch(battery) was disconnected for a few min, if replaced or something or the battery could have gotten low at one point if the truck sit alot, which would clear the kam memory. Its also possible that the wire harness or ecm have acumulated moisture or fluid mabey on one of the pigtails, check all of your conections and fuses and visually inspect your ecu for moisture. Are their any other codes present?

For some reason this truck is flashing sooooo many damn codes i cant keep up....I feel like I need a scanner because I am getting confused...I also feel like its different codes each time I try to attempt..I did hit of the other pin connectors by accident as well. BEFORE any of this happened, the truck ran fine until it was warm then it started to cough alot and stall....I made it home and assumed a bad ECT so I changed it out and this is where I am at now.

A scanner would be a good idea as I doubt I would be able to keep up with all the flashing and such when I read mine. I found a scanner for Ford going for $49, so I will be picking that up tomorrow. Make sure to check all of the connections and make sure no moisture is in there. Hopefully someone else will come in and give some more ideas as to what it might be.

Where are you getting the scanner for $49??? I see plenty of choices online but where can I buy one in person, like today.

It's at Canadian Tire. Check out your local napa, autozone and every little auo parts store and you are bound to come across a good deal
