Exclamation Clutch problems...

I know this may have been posted before, and I hate asking questions, but I am desperate.

I have a 1990 with a manual transmission. When I was on my way to lunch saturday I occasionaly had a problem w/ the truck not wanting to come out of gear. Then last night when I went to jump in it to answer a fire call, it would not function proparly at all. I checked the clutch fluid and there was none left in the resivoir. I filled it back up and the truck would not go into gear. After pumping the clutch pedal I got it into gear, but then it would not come back out. Also, pushing in the clutch will not always disconnect the transmission from the engine. I keep checking the fluid level, and it keeps dropping to nothing, but I cannot find anything on the ground. It has to be going somewhere, but not sure where. Can anyone help?!?! Without my truck I am completely stuck When the truck is not running the transmission will freely go into any gear, except 5th and reverse. With the engine running it is a pain to go into any gear, then I cannot get it out and have to let the truck violently stall out. What is the problem?

you might need to change you're slave on the trans. as ive have the problem with it not wanting to go into gear or come out of gear and lost all the fluid in the res i found it was the concentric slave inside the trans

Check everywhere for a leak, its definitely a hydraulic problem, how much fluid did you add?

What all might I need to replace? I will go back out and attempt to wipe it all down, but there is what looks to be trans fluid all over the transmission. There is no fluid on the ground except what I spilled when I accidently over filled it. I filled it back up to the level it said to fill it up to. Used DOT-3 brake fluid like I was told to. I have always had to put the pedal to the floor to get the truck to start, but now it wont do anything.

first check to see if the slave is on the outside of the trans or inside if its inside the trans then you will need to change the concentric slave and make sure if it is inside that you get the throw out bearing with the new slave

There is a line running from the resivoir down to the trans, where it goes inside. How hard is this stuff to change out? How expensive?

It sounds like you have an internal slave cylinder. To fix this you will need to drop the trans.

when you look under the truck from the driver side it will go into the trans bell it will be a 1/2in black tube and if it does then you have to drop the trans and (transfer case if 4x4) and then install the new part while the trans is out its best to check you're clutch plate before installing the trans back in and as far for the price it depends on the yr make model i know the for my 92 150 w/ a 302 it was about 30 to 50 bucks

Which means this will be extremely expensive... It is a 4x4. It is leaking from the inside, I found some fluid that is coming out. Ill contact the local shop... find out how many hundreds of dollars this will cost me. Do I need to replace the entire clutch? In order to start the truck I have to push the pedal to the floor. Thanks for the info

i don't think that you would need to replace the clutch its just best to check it while the trans is out so that you wont have to take the trans back out if you find out later down the road that you need a clutch
