Not sure how old the clutch is, but this is going to cost a small fortune to fix. It could be a few months before I can afford to have my truck fixed again.

I decided to do just that, and also have the rear main seal replaced while they were at it. Hoping to have it back at the latest friday. Took it to one shop, but they would nevar start on it, so I took it to another today. They are going to replace the slave cylinder, the clutch kit, and the rear main seal

make sure they machine the flywheel as well, but sounds good, also, if i were you, get them to pop the top off the trans and look at the shift forks, they could be screwed.

Right now I am just attempting to get my truck back to working... It only has 40,000 miles on the odometer, no evidence that it has rolled over. It still drives, and will shift in the right RPM range, even right now. The top plate on the trans was replaced soon after i got it because the shoulders were worn. Just need my truck back in proper working order. I love my motorcycle, but sometimes you just need a truck

I believe that is what it was. The shoulder on at least one was worn away and allowed the transmission to slip beyond 2nd gear and get trapped. Had to take the top plate off and replace the whole thing

I've got my truck in the shop right now, as my clutch pedal lost hydraulic pressure. I think it's the master cylinder but they quoted me 250 for the master installed, if its the slave, they quote 550 installed, and if I want a new clutch kit, 650 all total installed with clutch, slave, and labor. 1200 sounds crazy steep, unless prices just differ a lot down here in Florida.

I'm really hoping its just the external master cylinder though. As for your shifting into reverse issues, on my 94 ranger, my synchros in the trans started to wear out, and that caused hard 1st and Reverse shifting. I really had to slam it into gear. Apparently the synchros are made of a material that corrodes and breaks down over time due to the trans fluid. Don't know if that's the case for the F150's, but if so, it's an expensive fix. I decided to just pull the whole drivetrain out of my ranger and I'm going to swap in a bigger motor and newer trans.
