It's really not that hard of a job. There is just a lot of work involved. How old is the clutch, It will not hurt to replace it if it is 10+yrs old. I would also look into getting the flywheel resurfaced.

What would explain having to push the clutch pedal to the floor in order to start the truck? I mean push it as far as humanly possible. The transmission also does not seem to want to go back into first when not moving. You have to shut the engine down, then put it into first, then restart. Did I mention it does not like going into reverse much either? Might have to use my tax return to buy a new transmission/clutch... It would probably take all of it to do it. I love the truck and just want it to opperate properly

The synchros in the trans maybe getting a little sloppy. In my Jeep I always shift R than 1st, it seems to line them up. The whole deal with pushing the pedal all the way down is most likely an issue that is related to the leaky slave. You will not hurt anything driving it as is. Just make sure to keep the res topped off and pump the clutch pedal 10 or so times to bleed the air. When the slave went in my jeep I taught myself to shift with no clutch, It's not that hard you just need to find the right RPM's.

i have had this problem and what it is is that when the pedal is pushed in the trow out bearing isn't being depressed all the way which is an indecator that the slave is bad when the truck is shut off it goes in and out easy as there is not anything to hold back the gears as if it were running

Cant shifting with no clutch cause the trans to get messed up (furthar than mine already seems to be)? I need this truck to function proparly. I cannot afford anymore damage. Right now, even when the truck is not running, it will not go into reverse. It absolutely refuses to enter reverse. Before with the truck running I could put it in. Sometimes I had to put it into 3rd or something before it would go in, but it would go in.

i know that most trans has a safety thing to prevent it from going to reverse with out going into like first gear first

I just tried it again, and it went into reverse. But this thang is not going anywhere but to be repaired. Cannot take the chance of damaging anything else. It will be amazing if I can afford this before I get my tax return back. life sux
