Another vote for OE from a salvage yard. You can install and have the dealer turn it on.

I vote for the OEM Brake Controller vs. the very nice Tekonsha Controller I installed on some prior, non-Ford Vehicles. Linked below is my write-up in Post #10 on putting the OEM Controller on my prior 2014 STX. I'm linking this in case it provides a few insights relevant to the current Models.

I bought this OEM Controller on-line from a Ford Dealer in Ohio. Name long forgotten. My Denver Dealer said the $115- price I paid [2014] was less than he would pay for the Controller. Back then, the trick part was putting in the required Fuse, and ancillary Parts. Thanks to this Forum, I knew in advance of Truck purchase to ask the Dealer to flash the System n/c once I came back with my Controller newly installed.

Yah, the integration on the OEM Controller is THEE only way to go, IMO. Just completed my first ~7,000 lb Camping Trailer tow on my new 2019 XLT w/3.5L Eco & Max Tow. Bitchen! No brainer towing. I lock up the Trailer Brakes on our very long Gravel Driveway. Then, manually back off Controller Brake Power just a tad. This trick accounts for changes like hauling ~400 lbs of Fresh Water [vs. none], or varying Trailer contents/weight. Plus, the Trailer Brake Power Readout is a repeatable *number* on the Truck Display. Another advantage of OEM Controller integration...
