It's worth buying a cheap used laptop just to be able to program with FORScan. You'll spend a lot more having dealerships perform programming for you.

Or, you could just get a P3 controller and skip the Forscan/laptop stuff entirely...

Yes sir, I do like that idea as well. I just need a brake controller. Although the Forscan is nice and has it's benefits, right now, I just need a brake controller that I can hook up inexpensively and without much hassle.

I've never used a Tekonsha, but the word from many on this forum is that they are the best aftermarket controller, but not as good as the oem unit.

I typically find that most things like this, the oem are the better choice. I'm just wondering what the specific data differences are between oem and aftermarket.
