Windshield Tint?

I’ve run 35% on my full windshield as well. Really depends on local law enforcement. Mine stuck out like a sore thumb to them. Excellent on the eyes though and kept the truck at a much cooler temperature.

I wonder if 50% would stick out like a sore thumb. Only problem is then a tinted windshield makes your sides darker and if your going light on the front sides to look legal, then a clear windshield is your friend. The 5% brow did darken things a little bit. At least the brow, your only out $40 if you need a new windshield or have to remove it. I really want to do the 50% on the windshield but got the bad feeling I'll just have to remove it later.

Got an appointment next week to get the full windshield done in 50%. I removed my current tint strip and going to have them install a straight 5% contoured strip over the curved one so it will go straight across over the 50% tinted windshield and meet the AS1 line and look legal and detract attention away from the tinted windshield.
The curved strip just dropped too low on the sides (~3 1/2"-4" below AS1 line) for my taste. And the center of the strip was only 3" down from the top of the windshield, so not a low strip at all. To me it interferes with my line of sight. A straight strip should stay out of my line of sight. Our trucks windshield is too curved IMO for a normal strip (makes it pull high in the center and drop low on the sides).....so if you want to run a strip, a contoured strip (straight) may be better.

I'm getting it done tommorow so ill post pics. Going to get illegal windshield tint (50%) with a legal 5% top strip. The only way to make it meet the AS1 line and cover the most is to run it straight. My curved one probably met it in the middle but just dropped so low on the sides and I didint run the strip as low as some people. It didint get directly in my line of sight but the sides just bothered me in my peripheral vision. I had it just to the bottom of the Factory center visor in the center, any higher (running through the middle of the visor) looks stupid IMO. So gonna try again with a contoured strip and basically extend that factory center visor straight to the sides with a contoured 5% strip.

Got it done with the strip. I think it looks good, haven't seen it in daylight yet. From driving at night so far, the 50% does NOT affect nighttime visability whatsoever just less glare. I wouldn't go much darker though, maybe 35% max....but I don't want to attract attention so I went with 50%. The straight visor strip on the inside is nicer also and is out of my field of vision unlike the curved one. Will post pics tommorow.

They gotta redo it due to some issues. I'm gonna have them delete the 5% strip on the redo and just do 50% and call it good. The straight strip is a big improvement over the curved strip on the inside but not as nice looking as the curved one on the outside. Its more subtle I guess...its alright. I've just decided that a strip kindve clutters up the look of the truck. And they don't look the best on our trucks IMO as it's not a straight top windshield line. A legal strip barely does anything anyhow as far as sunglare. And as far as attracting attention from cops, I think a dark strip on top brings the attention of the eyes to the windshield rather than glancing over it. For those reasons, I decided to forget the strip.

Final result.......no sunvisor this time....just 50%. I don't think it's too dark but would not going any darker than this for a windshield. Maybe 35-40% if you want dark and have good headlights. I still got stock headlights and 50% does not inhibit my view at night....but in fact makes it better by reducing the distracting glare of street lights and headlights.
