Ive had a couple butt puckering moments on these overcast days here lately even with 50% when passing cops. Pass their service center on Spinks Rd daily.
Although ive gone down from the 5% sides to 20% im hoping the inspection process goes smoothly this year. I actually enjoy this tint setup much more, 20% matched front doors, 5% over factory rear glass, and 50% shield.

I've heard of 50% not being noticed on the state inspections repeatedly by multiple people. We don't annual inspections here in Maryland but I know people from states that do. I'd get a new factory window decal like I did and get the AS1 line tinted with a 5% like I did and it makes the 50% less notiable. Get a sticker shield they sell on Amazon to place the inspection sticker too because it'll be hard to get a sticker off without damaging the tint.

Theyre probably more likely to hassle you about the 20% sides....which is why I went 30% and it's perfect. Just a hair darker than legal but legal looking.

I'm considering a light tint for the windshield. Mostly concerned with daytime glare and night time driving, not cosmetics or stealth. Would ceramic be better at stopping glare but not hindering night vision?
Also looking for recommendations for a good shop in the Puget Sound area of Washington State.

I would just do a 50% regular dyed film. I have 50% and it is not dark. Get a dyed film that is color-stable though like Llumar/Formula 1, Global QDP, or 3M Color Stable. Ceramic is just going to give you more heat protection from the sun but is much more expensive. 50% dyed will have more significant glare reduction than a 70% or 80% IR blocker film. Do the 5% sunstrip on top of that for additional glare protection from the sun when the sun is going down. I had mine cut "straight" (curved so it lays straight on the windshield) so it dosent come down so low on the sides.

a lot of places is legal to have anything you want on the rear windows. so first we need to know where he lives. second the strip on the top of the windshield, i usually just use black vinyl on the outside of the window to block the sun and i never need to use my visors again. except for the side windows of course. i used air80 ceramic on my entire windshield (cant even tell it is on there) but the heat blockage is awesome. then i have ceramic 20% all the way around the rest of the car.

I had 70% on my Fusion with 5% rear & 20% front sides & 50% on my Explorer with 5% over rears (1.5% end result tint over tint) with 20% on front sides... Both vehicles had black leather interior, no moon roofs.

Needless to say I loved the 70% but wanted a shade darker.. put 50% on the Explorer. I personally think the perfect balance is 60% for the windshield.

I'm debating on what to do with the F150 but I'm pretty sure I'm going to lean to 70% for one reason only - it rains a lot here in Oregon. Hard to see the roadways.

If I was back in Cali (where I had fusion/explorer) or Texas or Colorado - anywhere much more dry - I'd do 50% as long as I had the panoramic roof. If no moon roof I'd do 70% regardless of location.

Hope that helps!!

I heavily disagree on the tint brow. I have 5% on mine right at the AS1 line. It's dark enough where it blocks the sun glare, but light enough to see traffic lights in the daytime through it. If you pull up close to a light with your normal visor flipped down, you have to move your head to the side or under it to see the green light. With a tint strip, you can look at the light with the sun directly behind it with no problems.

and inside the truck at midnight. i have 20% on the full shield and a 5% brow. it can definitely be challenging to see at times but i think the look is worth it

I put the darkest legal on the entire windshield (I think 70% in TX) and it helped tremendously with the heat and keeping the interior cool when sitting outside
